This Home Theater In a Box is fantastic! I purchased it new just a few months ago, and it has been serving me well. It accepts multiple audio/video inputs with one HDMI output (for pass-through or upconversion video). The sound is phenomenal from both Blu-Ray Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD soundtrack. Movie channels from Dish satellite that is encoded in 5.1 also sound incredible. I purchased the S-Air rear amplifier, which allows you to eliminate the cables running from the front of your living room to the back; essentially, the sound for the rear two surround speakers are transmitted wirelessly to the back S-Air amplifier (which you have to purchase separately), and you wire the back speakers into the back amplifier. That S-Air amplifier will turn on when your main unit turns on, and turn off when your main unit turns off. I have a microwave within 4 yards of the receiver and a router in the room, but the sound never drops out. This add-on pack will cost around $130; $110 for the S-Air amplifier that comes with its own S-Air card, and $20 for the additional S-Air card that you have to plug into your HT-SS370 amplifier. Also note that Sony has discontinued creation of the S-Air units, so you cannot buy it directly from them; you can find the card at Best Buy or both items on Amazon.
Stereo and Mono sounds can also be played out all speakers, so it's not just your front two speakers that are blasting when you have a CD playing. It can also try to synthesize surround sound for stereo inputs, which is kinda cool when you're listening to a CD. All in all, it's a fantastic system. It's the BEST system if you can't have a wires running all around the living room; the S-Air addition is a fantastic option that works all day, everyday without a hitch. Albeit, it adds over $100 to the final price, it's still the cheapest option for "wireless" surround sound set up. Last edited by okinawanmatt; 05-10-2011 at 03:43 PM.. Just bought one... Surprised that I didn't get any answers.... Anways, I have two questions... Please see below:
1. Does this come in original packaging? I expect to see all the accessories/parts that were part of the package.... How does one recognize that this is refurbished? 2. What kind of warranty does it come with? Is it a good idea to buy refurbished Sony items? Is this a good deal? Or did I just make a hasty purchase? Any help appreciated.... Maxie |

You're INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding. I buy a lot of Sony refurbs. For the most part, they look like new, there may be very minor signs of use. They do not come in normal retail packaging. They usually show up in a blue and white box with REFURBISHED in huge letters. Inside is usually bubble wrap. On some systems they do not use enough bubble wrap, and they do not survivie the trip...that is the only real downside. So check everything out when you first get it. They come with all the original accessories, and have a 90 day warantee. For the kind of savings your getting, I think you will be pleased (unless it was smashed in shipment). |

Good deal, but this model is 6 years old -- was replaced with this newer model in January 2011 (not sure what the differences are...):

I have a SonyStyle in my local mall. I wonder if I would be able to return it there. By the way, for those who want it new, it isn't that much more at Worst Buy:
