"A good listener tries to understand what the other person is saying. In the end he may disagree sharply, but because he disagrees, he wants to know exactly what it is he is disagreeing with." - Kenneth A. Wells
Wow. I have never had a more difficult time ordering from an online retailer. So when I was going through the checkout process. I put down that I wanted to have my SSD delivered to my work because I know there would be someone there to sign for it. If I have it delivered to my home, it would be a real pain because I wouldn't be home to sign for it. And I'd have to either stay home to sign or have it go through three attempts before I could get it from whatever shipper they use. Anyway, SuperBiiz states that your shipping address must be on file with your bank. I was going to use my Paypal at first because I know my work address is listed there. But when I got farther down the page, their instructions were to send money using Paypal to an e-mail address. This made me feel uncomfortable. All my other experiences with Paypal involved me logging into PayPal's server and the order was generated by them and I would be sent back to the vendors site. I have to send a payment to an e-mail address? Ya, not doing that. So I know I've had things delivered to my work in the past using my debit Visa from my bank so I figured I would be okay.
When I get home, my wife tells me that someone from SuperBizz called and wanted to talk to me. I asked what they wanted and she said she wasn't sure, but it was something about a conference call. She wasn't sure what the lady said because she had a really thick accent. I had a feeling that it had something to do with the whole shipping address thing, so I first called my bank to see if they were still open and to add my address if I needed to. I explained the situation to the nice phone rep of my bank and she said that as long as my billing address is my home address it shouldn't matter what my shipping address is. And they also do not have a way of adding an authorized shipping address anyway. So I told her that I might be calling her back and dialed up SuperBiiz.
The woman with a thick accent answered and like I figured, she wanted to confirm the shipping address. She wanted to have me on a conference call with my bank. I agreed and she put me on hold while she dialed. The same lady I talked to before at my bank answered. The SuperBiiz explained to her that she wanted to confirm who I was and she did asking me the usuall name, birthday, and last 4 of my SSN. The SB rep then asked about my work address, and my bank lady said that it's not something they keep records of. But she did confirm to her that I was who I said I was and that that should be suffecent to charge my card and deliver my package where ever. The SB rep pause for a moment and repeated again that she needed to confirm that I had my work address on file with my bank. My bank lady again repeated that they didn't have that information.
The SB rep then put us both on hold for some reason and my bank rep had a moment where we both were like. "What the hell?" I apologized to her and said I had no idea that getting something delivered to my work was going to be such a hassle. I was starting to regret not just using my Paypal account. She asked if this was a vendor out of the US and I said no. They have a US address and list the Pacific time zone in their hours so I'm pretty sure they are based in CA.
The SuperBiiz Rep came back and again repeated that I needed to have my shipping address on file with my back. I kinda rolled my eyes and my bank rep jumped in and said they would list my work address as my "Alternate Address". I then gave her my work address, I don't know if she was actually taking it down, but once we were done the SuperBiiz lady was then satisfied. And she told me that she would put the charge through. I thanked her and said thank you again to my bank rep and we all parted our separate ways.
I swear, this SSD was really an ordeal to order. I'm never using that company again, no matter how good the deal it. My order status says that it is "Released to Distribution" so I *think* that means it's shipping out tomorrow, but man. Never again. Never again.
