wow when did they start making 2gb 460s?

and do we need 2gb on a 460? aren't we better off getting a faster card with less ram?

Yeah, that is some serious overkill right there. I always get a kick out of manufacturers releasing these mid-range cards with an unnecessarily high amount of VRam. I recall seeing 4850s getting released years ago with 2 GB of ram. The bad thing is that if they keep making them, then that means there are people out there that are actually buying them.

Yeah, you can get a couple of GTX 460 768mb cards for roughly the same price and that would blow this card out of the water.
