Deal Details

Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

An educated guess through process of elimination:

- Only 3 major name brands make plasmas
- Only 2 of those 3 make 50" models
- No mention of 1080p (meaning it's 720p)
- No mention of 3D
- 3,000,000 contrast ratio is the exact same ratio LG claims for its 50PT350

Add: the only other possibility is the Panasonic X3, but they claim a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio
Thanks, I ordered an LG for in store pickup. I will try to confirm if that is the model on sale before going to pick it up tonight.

People are reporting $1500 for the ST30 with free Blray and Avatar at BstBuy

Do you have a link to where you saw it in main thread?

Update:

Try this link for free BluRay promo - price does show as $1659 for the 55GT30 abd $1500 for ST30.

Says you have to buy the BluRay player. Not sure if adding it to your cart and getting it for free counts but I am guessing it does.

Here's the tv link showing $1659.97
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-V...309&sr=8-2

But does it include glasses - without glasses not a deal. I think after 6/12 these will include glasses but then again probably not bluray player. So same crap

You may have to go to one of the other sets (ST30, GT30) before it shows up. I know the 55GT30 was on there when I last checked this morning.

I'm waiting for US Appliance to get going with some type of Memorial Day Sale and slash prices some more. Do you guys think that will happen tonight or right @ Monday? - Thanks.

In general, based on historical pricing trends, most every manufacturer starts their promo activity around now through July. Prices then climb some until the holiday season. I would expect some aggressive pricing/bundling these next 8 weeks.

Led array for me. Hate the plasmas moving/vibrating pixels.
Weight is also very important for me.

50PZ950: $1489.99 shipped

I'm a little concerned about glare because of a big bay window off to the side of our viewing area. It seems as though only Panny's ST and GT really address this issue, but Samsung pricing seems to be a bit better. Plus, I don't want to have to dump another $100 or so to get Panasonic glasses. I'll probably have to wait for the Panny glasses deal. Ugh, i'm so conflicted but I obviously don't want buyer's remorse.... la sigh.

Thanks again for the thread triwood. We should be taking side notes on how long you can keep this up ;D
