Deal Details

Last Edited by triwood June 14, 2011 at 01:45 PM
Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

I cant seem to find any information on the Avatar bundle with panasonic 2011 3D models anywhere else but the wiki of this thread. Does anybody else have confirmation of this deal. I need to buy a TV now since my TV died on me 2 days ago and was gonna wait until the Memorial day sales. I am willing to wait until 6/12 if I can get some confirmation on the avatar bundle deal. Don't want to miss the memorial day sales and then find out there is no bundle come 6/12. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.
This article mentions it but provides no detail.
"Currently, Panasonic is planning to offer in June a special limited time promotional bundle with glasses and a 3D Blu-ray Disc copy of "Avatar" to help promote the new sets."

Remember too, we're now within the 30 day return window. If Panasonic will not honor the bundle, you can always return the TV and purchase a new one with the bundle included. A hassle, yes. But given the current prices of Panasonic's active 3D glasses, probably worth it.

Great catch. US Appliance is also including the Panasonic BDT110 3D Blu-ray player on top of its already really low prices.

Below prices include shipping and 3D Blu-ray player at US Appliance:

50ST30: $1147
50GT30: $1347
55GT30: $1639

I got Amazon to price match US Appliance. Little did I know the 14 day window is good for only one price match. I probably should have waited until after memorial day.

I would rather avoid the hassle and wait for the bundle. I can live without a tv for a few weeks. :-)

Think I narrowed it down to the sammies d6500. So should I bite on the d7000 now (considering it is only $80 more) or see if the price drops more on the d6500?

Just worried about missing out on the free megamind pack

The only difference between the 6500 and 7000 is the black filter. If the TV is going into a room with a good amount of natural sunlight, I'd elect the 7000. If the light is minimal or can be regulated, the 6500 makes sense.

Whelp, there goes my Memorial Day weekend plans. Can't invite the family over because Pilot Services, the company who delivers for US Appliances, delivered a DAMAGED television set. Cracked in THREE places.

Where do I begin with Pilot?

1.) It says on the actual invoice: "Home Delivery Electronics - 2 MAN" and yet only ONE guy delivered it, and struggled with it too. The f***ing TV wasn't secured in the truck, neither!

2.) White Glove Delivery: The delivery guy didn't want to OPEN the box. Said it wasn't his job, bla bla. When he finally decided to at least get it out of the box (took convincing on my part), that's when I discovered the cracks.

3.) Receipt: Delivery guy didn't want me to have my copy of the invoice. Said "You don't need it" and proceeded to try to grab the f**king receipt from me! I kept it.

This is BS! I'm giving U.S. Appliances one more shot because they're $100 cheaper than the other competitors plus the White Glove delivery, but my weekend is f***ed because of those slimballs at Pilot.

.

I'm sorry to hear about your issue with Pilot. Have you called us and spoke to customer service yet? We'll be happy to get you taken care of.

Pilot typically has excellent service and is the same carrier Amazon uses for their TV White Glove service.

Thanks.

I'm not completely exonerating U.S. Appliances, either. For all I know, you could have sent me a damaged television set (I mean, really - cracked in three places???), since the box itself looked undamaged.

Great, looking forward to bringing the family together around my f***ing laptop this holiday weekend.

I have a chance to pick up this Plasma from Panny's EPP for $813 including delivery and tax. Does anyone or everyone think this is a good deal? I think it's hot, but input from you people would help push me one way or the other. I'm so wishy-washy lol
