Deal Details

Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

do you have to de-register from your kindle before returning it? so that whoever owning it will not able to buy book using your account.

if you deregister, would amazon know and take back the 20%?

I would think so, but not sure.

Even after the order is processed and/or shipped? IF so - but same thing could happen if I ebay it. hmmm-- I'm not sure.
I'm under the impression that even without a Kindle tied to their account, people were able to use the code just fine. I think once the transaction is authorized they can't just take back a discount. You didn't authorize the charge for the higher amount and could probably win a dispute with your credit card company.

I would wait until the TV is in your possession, assuming that it's not a set that ships 1-2 months out, thus out of the return window.

Panasonic 65ST30 now down to $2269 w/ 3D Avatar kit on Amazon.
If I had the 20% code, I think I'd use it on this. A little over $1700 for this TV and the bundle...great deal, I think. I've been waiting since April to get a TV for the new house....running out of patience (though it's mostly my own fault for not knowing if I should get one of the Panasonics-and which one- or an LG....ok, fine, or Samsung!). I de-register'd and did a Factory Reset to completely erase everything before returning mine .. and i was still able to use the 20% code successfully after doing all of that

The only reason it would have to be deregisterd is so the new owner can register it. Otherwise Amazon has no idea you sold it or returned it. I would use the code when you order the tv. I would wait for the tv to deregister it but not to start selling it on ebay or returning it. Once you use the code and Amazon accepts it - you should be good. Since you had to retrieve the code before 6/5 its not like the new owner is going to have the same code as you.

The issue with returning it is that you have to break the seal on the box to open it. So Target can't just put it back on their shelves and resell it. I hate when manufacturers do that. Target should be obligated to take it back anyway within 90 days but I am sure it will probably require some arguing with the CSR.

Damn P55st30 went up a little again.... =) Price fluctuates freakin daily

I'm still debating on returning mine . . . there may be some more good deals (special offers) down the line making it worth holding on to . . .

Or you could, you know, read a few books.

Debating between the Panasonic 55GT30 and Sammy's 59D6500 (not going to touch the 7000/8000 series with all the peeling issues surfacing).

Can anyone offer some insight on these two brands in relation to one another? I'm looking to place my order Friday. Thanks a lot.

I'm pretty much on these two at the moment as well. It should not be this hard to buy a TV! Smilie

It's proving difficult to find many reviews/opinion on the 59D6500. But it seems like a pretty good deal with the bundle package. The buzzing issue definitely scares me with Samsungs. I seem to hear sounds around the house a lot more easily than my wife and even my kids sometimes.

Doesn't seem the 6500 is available for Amazon, just one of its merchants, so that offsets the bundle deal (through Amazon) and Amazon Prime. I prefer to deal with Amazon directly due to their excellent customer service and return policy so that might be the deciding factor for me.

Yeah, I have never dealt with US Appliance before and that's where the Samsung is at a good price with the bundle.

I got the 51D6500 package on Amazon and pricematched to US-appliance (via phone call to Amazon). US-Appliance is on the approved Amazon list so the process took less than 10 minutes and they will credit me back $181.39 as soon as my TV ships.
