Deal Details

Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

I got the 51D6500 package on Amazon and pricematched to US-appliance (via phone call to Amazon). US-Appliance is on the approved Amazon list so the process took less than 10 minutes and they will credit me back $181.39 as soon as my TV ships.
u bought w amazon straight out, right? no coupon?

US Appliance is also on the Samsung listed approved dealers. Keep in mind that if not purchased from one of these dealers, Samsung may not stand by the warranty. I was in BB today and spoke with the area Samsung rep. The 59d6500 looks like the deal for me. the finish on the bezel is flat so no glare along with the screen has a lot less than the 59d550. They had the two sets next to each other and was amazed by the differance. The 6500 is a lot better than the 550.... i am sure a lot of you already knew that!

Here is the liste of approved sellers for Samsung

That is correct. I bought the TV, 3D starter kit, and Blu ray player at amazon and as soon as I placed the order I called for the price adjustment. Just make sure that you buy all 3 items from amazon and not a 3rd party vendor. 1167 shipped for the 51D6500 is a great deal and getting the bonus stuff just ices the deal. From what I have read on AVS, the 6500 is essentially the best bang for the buck TV in the Samsung plasma line up.

Nobody can answer that outright... it comes down to what youve heard and what you trust.

Youll probably be very happy either way. The bigger concern might be... would you be happy with a 55" knowing you could have had a 59"?

How do you do a TV price match for a lower price?

Amazon says "You can request a refund for the price difference through the "Found a lower price?" button on your Order Summary page in Your Account."

But I don't see that anywhere. Does my order have to be shipped already?

I was tormented by the same dilemma, albeit between p60st30('low'-end 3d panasonic model) vs p60pz950(hi-end lg 3d model). After lots of research I decided to go for p60st30.(plasma is all panasonic does) an had good reviews vs no review for pz950. I hope I made the right decision. All tvs have some flaws. I think u just need to bite the bullet and see how it goes.

To use that option you need to wait. The other option is to call and have them do it. That was the route I took and had approval for my refund within 10 minutes

Same here....looking at either the PN59D6500 or the Panasonic TC-P60ST30. I have been to a couple of different BBs to check out the picture quality. I found one that had both models side by side. I am leaning toward the Samsung because for my "eye test" the Samsung picture looked better than the Panny. The Samsung looked less pixelated and a cleaner picture. But I am still torn because of the Samsung buzz issues and Panasonics are known for quality plasmas.

Damn.....the price for the Panasonic VIERA TC-P60ST30 just increased to $1869 ($1495 ac) and the Panasonic TC-P65ST30 just decreased to $2165 ($1732 ac). The difference between the two TVs is only $237 now. Might have to jump to the bigger version.

Its crazy that the GT 60 is near the same price as the ST-65.
