Deal Details

Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

Does anybody know what the price match policy of amazon is. Can we PM multiple times if the price of the TV goes down even further after you PM???

I tried their chat and they referred me to their speciality shipping team to get an answer. They do not have chat and I will need to call them at 866-423-5355. I cannot call right now. Did anybody do multiple PM's on their TV's?

NM: Just read the post above. :-)

Is there a way to find out the build of the TV prior to making an online order? Would the customer service rep know?
I highly doubt you'll get that info from amazon. Even then, its a crap shoot. according to this thread on hidef, march productions are the best month for d7000/d8000.

Well, it's June, but I'm assuming that won't stop stores from giving me a March build of the television if one's available, or are all the March/April models phased out at this point?

Does anybody have a good strategy or any insight into the price fluctuations on the TV's and when the best time to get a PM from Amazon would be. Bought a 55ST30 for $1467 and the TV hasn't shipped yet but the price is already at $1394 from one of sites that Amzon PM's. Don't want to wait until the 14th day and find out the price just went up again.

Reread my edited post, I had misinformation in the original post. It's actually best to get the march build.

I'm hoping they'll return shipment on the bad sets according to build dates. However I doubt that since it will be too costly for Samsung. What I think is their best option is to build new sets that correct the problem, then replace any sets that come in with the new set to save some $

I went ahead and did PM at 1394 for the 55st30. The lowest on the wiki is 1349, but by a merchant that amazon doesn't qualify for PM.

I'll take my savings now Smilie

Which site has $1394? Ok, never mind Paul's

Did you originally buy with Kindle coupon?

6ave and paulstv list it at $1394. I did buy with kindle coupon.

Going to see if they will PM the original price and then apply 20% coupon. Hopefully! Crossing fingers....

Considering I was ready to spend $2500 on a UN55D8000 about two weeks ago, thanks to the Kindle (20%) and Albertson's many $20 off $100 Amazon GCs, pulled the trigger on the PN64D7000 after the CNET PN64D8000 review came out (don't need web browser, LCE, or QWERTY remote) for just under $2000 for TV, Megamind Kit, Blu-ray player (got Amazon to add this (albeit reluctantly) after the fact), and Kindle (which my wife loves-- and I admit, I do, too). The 64" gives me 38% more viewing area than the 55" (while house is small, living room is large). Won't get the TV til July-August though, but I can wait.

I guess it is too late to get a Kindle with 20% coupon?

The ability to retrieve the code expired over a week ago. The ability to use the code expires July 9. You may get lucky and find someone with the code, but SD rules only permit trades for up to a $5 gift card.

Does kindle code stack with free glasses kit. Someone mentioned in other thread that it stopped yesterday.

I was able to place an order with both discounts yesterday at 11:30 AM EST.

I checked later and the deal was seemingly not working, that is, the bundle alone wasn't giving a discount. Today I checked back to find that the bundle was actually free, and not $240 off. I don't have a code anymore to check out that end, but I would imagine it's working.
