Piggybacking off last year's Samsung thread, I'd like to generate a wiki for the 3 major plasma brands for 2011. Most of the manufacturers place restrictions on pricing and don't allow online retailers to show prices until final checkout. This thread will allow us to weed through those restrictions and find the best current prices.

I am much more informed with pricing on the higher end models for all 3 manufacturers, but admittedly, I could use some help on the lower end.

Any help keeping the wiki current is appreciated. I will do my best with what I have already documented on some of these models, but again, I do not have info on every model.

I really don't give a rat's back-end about 3d. I was hoping this would help me get a good deal on an older model plasma that doesn't support it, but browsing AMZ doesn't really seem to yield much. Am I SOL on finding something like this or do I have to go troll B&M stores for a deal like that? I have about $400 credit at AMZ so I was hoping to use it on a good TV

1080p and 40" + a must

I was in your shoes, but I gave up my search for the following reasons:

1.) Finding a good, non-3D set from any of the major B&M or Online stores was difficult enough, and there were very few similar TVs with which to make a comparison.

2.) These TVs are getting phased out, and will eventually be out of production for good, thus raising uncertainties with respect to their warranty and future technical support in the event of a break-down.

Just make it easier on yourself, brother.

I'm seeing the LG 50PV450 at Amazon for $742.44 Free shipping and no tax to me in Florida.
Should I go for it, or should I wait until this weekend?
LGPV450 for $742 plus tax (AMZ) or P50S30 for $825 plust tax (EPP) ???

Update: Are you sure it was not a 3rd party seller through Amazon. I looked at it yesterday and today and both times if you look at Amazon's price on the LG its $799.

Ditto!

But maybe we could add a magic 8-ball kind of thing that can make the purchasing decision for us..... Smilie

The 50 inchers are at a good price right now, and I will be building a theater in the basement of our new house that will have a 100"-plus projector screen....but that 59" Samsung is looking very nice with the multi-movie bundle.....but that 60" Panansonic ST30 is less than 100 bucks more......what say ye, magic 8-ball?!

I consider 59 and 60 to be the same roughly so for $100 more unless Panny has better size go with the Sammy.

Also wanted to point out that the price difference between the P50ST30 and P50GT30 is only like $60 at this moment - for that price difference I would go for the P50GT30.
Probably because most people were going for the ST not thinking the step up to the GT was worth extra $$$ thus depleting the inventory of the ST,.

I agree with #1 and considering all the promos price is getting pretty close between non3D & 3D but disagree with the 2nd half of your statement in #2. These are all major brands - for the next 5 years at least there will still be tech support for non3D tvs plus if you have an extended warranty and something happens they will give you credit towards a new tv then.

I'm getting 3D for myself but for mom, getting her non3D. She does not want it.

Well yea it's sold from Video & Audio Center. I put it in my cart and went through the ordering and it ends up at $742 including S/H and tax. No tax to me in Fl. Smilie
Panasonic, I'm sure will add S/H and Tax to it's EPP.

panasonic charges tax in 50 states and they charge $65 ship. also remember that panasonic customer service and return are not as good as amazon. they charge restocking fee.

I almost bought from panasonic with their 25% EPP discount but was scared due to those reason above.

does anyone know if its ok to cancel my 60st30 and order the 65st30 if my avatar ultimate bundle already shipped? I want to reuse the kindle coupon but someone earlier said if the tv shipped you lose the coupon.

does anyone know? You guys convinced me to just go 65" and never regret anything! but i dont want to lose the coupon!
best thing to do would to chat with amazon rep. and have them do it over chat - u'll know rightaway.

Even with 25% EPP they couldn't match amazon 20% coupon final price.

Regarding the 15 ft question, if you went 65", you'd be in heaven. But coming from a 32" TV, really anything would be bigger to you. IMO there is never anything wrong with going larger when it comes to TVs. I might change my tune if I were in a smaller room, but 15 ft just begs for a large set.

I went back and re-measured - it is actually 13.5 Head Bang Close enuf .. still ordered 65" Thumbsup Final price $1727 for p65st30
I don't like how my order processed. Since the Avatar kit is shipped separately, they took the promotion and split it between the tv and the kit. How was it applied to yours?

For the Avatar Kit.
Subtotal of Items: $248.03
Shipping & Handling: $0.00
Promotion Applied: -$25.60
------
Total for this Order: $222.43

For the TV:

They went the roundabout way but it's the same result. Right? Why do you care?

Mine goes like this:

Shipping & Handling: $76.65
Super Saver Discount:-$76.65

wow, just check the new panasonic iphone app which control and support only 2011 TVs. it has a demo mode and it is awesome. it is the future of controlling devices. making my expensive URC obsolete.

note that reviews for this app on itune is very low because alot of people got mad since it does not support older TVs, even 2010 ones.

Two reasons. 1) Not sure how a return would work, but if I wanted to keep the kit and return the TV to get another one, I would have to return everything. 2) I use my Amex card so I get the extended warranty. They would refund the value of the tv. If it ever came to that, it looks like I only paid $1501.87 for the TV instead of $1727 for the TV and $0 for the kit.

Mine was the same way. It has me wondering if it would be possible to return the Avatar 3D bundle and get ~$220 for it back. I really don't give a damn about it, and I would like to save the additional bucks. Of course, I'm not sure how they would process it on the return, not to mention it definitely seems wrong. Wink

When I go to the Panasonic EPP site I see free shipping banner I attached to this post.: Not sure where you get $65.

True. With 20% Amazon is better. However I only have one Kindle code. I need two televisions. So I will use the Kindle code for the more expensive tv. Thus the P50s30 is my cheaper purchase which I will not be using a Kindle code for.
