Android Exchange Touchdown App Key [amazon.com] for Android at Amazon Appstore $7.99 - Save $12

Make a note that this is the software KEY not the actual app. You have to download the app separate, which allows for you to do the full setup and see if it works with your company's exchange or not. Then you will buy the key on top of the free regular app (free trial that is) and it will unlock all of the features permanently.

Bought it for my Epic 4g. However, still getting notification asking to update security settings. Damn Froyo and exchange activeSync pin.

I assume this doesn't work with a single local PC that's running Outlook but not using Exchange. If I'm wrong, please let me know - I'd appreciate it!

I'd like to sync my Outlook Calendar, Contacts, Tasks and Notes (or at least some of these) with similar functions on my Droid - and don't want to have to sync to the cloud (e.g., Gmail) first. In other words, do what a circa-2007 smartphone could do out of the box.

Droid/ Droid 2 could use exchange mail/calendar out of the box. I guess not all android phones can?

Yeah, kinda weird. I know the Atrix can also do exchange. Why is there a need for a separate app.

Epic 4G can also receive e-mail from an Exchange server without a separate application.

Touchdown provides a much richer Exchange experience than stock Android or the Motoblur droids use. It has many more widgets of multiple sizes and allows you to keep your work email separate from personal.

Also, older versions of Android didn't support active sync, I think.

Thanks....my 30 day trial just expired on my HD2 and was about to drop $20 on this. Best Exchange app out there, love the unified inbox.

I'm the mobile admin at my company (300+) and trust me, Touchdown is far and away better than any of the android activesync clients. Not to mention most of the companies have screwed around with the built-in client in a not-so-good way.

The newer version even sync's outlook/exchange Notes, which is really amazing compared to the other activesync implementations.

Thanks! Had been using this with free trial which was about to expire and had planned to buy the full version. Will probably still end up expensing it.

For those who have mandatory password policies on their exchange server, this app will allow you to move the password requirement from unlocking the phone to opening the app.

I've been running the trial version for 6 months. Every thirty days, I uninstall and then reinstall the app, which sets me up on a new 30 days trial period. For this price, however, I think I'll buy it!

Doesn't it also depend on your company's server settings? My last company we just had to be on the internet to synch email via Outlook/Exchange Server. Now (after acquisition) we have to be on the VPN to synch, so I assume this wouldn't help.

The exchange apps use OWA to connect to the servers to pull your data. If your company uses OWA for outside access, that is all you need. If that is turned off, I guess that is why you need the VPN to get your email.
