TEXAS: Discounts off passenger car Texas State Inspection

Used afive off in Plano a while back. Worked fantastic.

You can get your vehicle inspected in any county, however, if the vehicle is registered in an emissions requirement county and you get it inspected in a non-emissions county then you will need to sign a affidavit and select one of three choices. The one I select is something like "I will not use my car in an emissions county and is I do, I will get it inspected there first, even if my current non-emissions inspection is not expired. I also think that the inspection stickers look different although I'm not certain about that.

It's only 20 bucks for me in the non-emissions county. I had no idea that it cost 40 bucks everywhere else. Lame.

I live in Austin, so I should get my car inspected in San Antonio and save $20?

You are better off taking your car for inspection that offer only state inspections (Do not have a repair business)

Yes, last I looked they have a line under them to indicate it was inspected with emmission tests. You can face a hefty fine if caught with a car registered in a county requiring emissions without an emmissions test. Don't suggest giving a cop a reason to pull you over

I'm not saying it hasn't happened or doesn't happen regularly, but the only times I've been failed is if my car didn't meet the state criteria. If your tires are down to the wear bars, you fail. If your wiper blades are worn out, you fail. If your check engine light is on, you fail. None of this is unethical.

I have to be careful where I go because my tint is too dark on one of my cars. Just because I know of one station that doesn't use a light meter, doesn't mean all the other ones who DO use one are corrupt.

Nah...just go to Arbor. I just got a emissions/state inspection for $28.75 AND a coupon for a free MightyFine burger. Better than a poke in the eye! The Arbor folks have always been straight with me(but I do own newer vehicles that haven't had any 'wear' issues). They also sent DW a 'birthday' coupon for $25 off services(except inspection). That comes in handy when you're using syn oil .

I took my car one time to get inspected at a repair shop and i somehow failed the test. He told me for 200 bucks he will pass me. I went to a different place and pass the same day
