Good deal, I got 2 of these back when they were $129 AR. finally played through Crysis since I could run it at 1920x1080 with everything on full blast, and looking forward to BF3 for sure.
To SLI or not to SLI... That is the question...
SLI for sure, but read the fine print and make sure you can submit a rebate for each card. Also should make sure your mobo can support at least 8x/8x SLI lanes for each PCIe slot, anything lower and you could run into bottleneck issues.
EVGA offers a warranty that allows users to switch the cooler without voiding it. That's pretty unusual in the industry and it's why I have only purchased EVGA cards.
But, the 460 tends to have a pretty quiet cooler. One thing that helps with cooling is a VRAM sink, which EVGA offers for an extra $10. It came on their "FTW" series cards.
Yeah, I haven't found a need to overclock yet. Runs everything I own smooth as hell. My comp sits on the ground next to the desk, so there's some distance there, but I really have never heard the fans on these cards chugging, trying to cool things down. Both cards idle at ~30C, and these cards will give you as much power as a 580 at half the cost, as shown by the benchmark you included earlier:
