The OBi100 and OBi110 have a PHONE connection for a telephone / cordless phone base station and an Ethernet port to connect the devices to you Internet router. For making and receiving calls to and from a VoIP service (like Google Voice and Callcentric), they are identical. The only difference is that that OBi100 does not have a telco LINE port.
The OBi110 has an additonal connection for a telephone line. With this connection you can bridge calls from a VoIP service like Google Voice or any other VoIP provider to the service providing dial tone on the analog line. If you do not have a telco service at your home (or are going to get rid of it), an want to make all your calls over your broadband Internet connection with Google Voice or some other VoIP provider, then the OBi100 is the way to go. Here is a comparison chart from Obihai: http://www.obihai.com/matrix.html |

I am a current (soon to be former) Vonage World customer. Can anyone offer an insightful comparison between Obihai and Ooma for 1) cheap international calling and 2) reliability? I need to call a landline in South Africa on a regular basis.
Any input would be appreciated. Thank you. |

If there are reliable internet connection in South Africa, you may consider deploy an Obi110 over there. You will call South Africa through this path: Obi(US) -> Obi110(Africa) -> phone Obi(US) -> Obi110(Africa) -> PSTN -> some one's phone. |

I guess I should have researched more...anyway, very happy with it so far...google said that as long as it's economically free, they'll keep it that way for US call, so it might still be free, or maybe google will charge something like 20-50 a year, hard to tell |

Any cheap idea to get calls from any USA number to India and vice-versa. I am not sure if one device is sufficient to serve this purpose..and yes..without running computer. I heard that Google voice not works except USA, so is it applicable to both ways i.e. USA-India or India-USA?.
Really appreciate if someone can reply with detail information. Thanks |

Other Voip Services/Companies you can use for free or low fee in addition to Google Voice. http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...&t=2340577 - Whistle Phone offer both free incoming and outgoing calls. Whistle Phone will require you to listen to ad when making out going call. Very limited choice of area code for phone number. And incoming call doesn't work well with SIP. For very low fee, there are http://pbxinaflash.com/vitelity/ (Looks like Vitelity quality is gone. Read this thread in DSLReports for discussion about Vitelity quality [broadbandreports.com] http://www.callcentric.com/ <--- many people recommend here and in other website http://www.voip.ms/ <--- many people recommend here and in other website flowroute [flowroute.com] For free incoming call, beside Whistle Phone mentioned earlier, you can also use IpKall. It works with Callcentric to provide free local number in Washington State and free incoming call. http://www.ipkall.com/ Another service offer free incoming phone number http://www.sipgate.com/ DSLReports.com, The Good, Bad, Ugly charts (Voip rating chart) http://www.dslreports.com/gbu Here are some of the Voip that offer very low price International Calls Onesuite and localphone offer a lot of local access number so can use it without Voip device. Those two also offer international local access number which you can use outside US. Check their website for more info. http://www.onesuite.com (Onesuite has been around for 10+ years and consistently great quality) http://www.localphone.com http://www.callwithus.com/ http://www.future-nine.com/ Last edited by MozartA; 05-24-2011 at 05:38 PM.. |

But if worse comes to worst, the obi does support other voip services, so it should be pretty cheap to switch to another voip provider. |
