I heard the performance gains aren't really substantial on this Dual-core Atom. At this price though, it's hard to argue.

I was of the same idea that i needed a netbook cause i type a lot. netbook was slow and clumsy so i ended up buying an ipad ( couldnt wait for the trasnformer ) and on landscape i have gotten so used to typing on it, that i type just as fast. I think it is a personal preference, atom based netbooks are not fast at all...if you need something small and portable i'd look into the ultra portable HP laptops. they are about 400-420 dollars for something you can actually use. If you want something a little flashier, the tablet will handle most things just fine. I know the price is good, but honestly i bought my netbook at a good price too and i still got frustrated with it ( frustrating mouse pad, resizing screen to be able to see a webpage, etc etc )

Very good point. We are talking about two different machines, built to perform two different tasks. Comparing them is strange at best.If you want your netbook to be fast, try getting rid of Windoze and put Ubuntu in it. Even with just the 1 gig of RAM, it is now a fast machine... (I recommend Ubuntu 10.04.2) Last edited by Halibaitor; 05-26-2011 at 06:24 PM.. __̴ı̴̴̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡ ̡͌l̡*̡̡ ̴̡ı̴̴̡ ̡̡͡|̲̲̲͡͡͡ ̲▫̲͡ ̲̲̲͡͡π̲̲͡͡ ̲̲͡▫̲̲͡͡ ̲|̡̡̡ ̡ ̴̡ı̴̡̡ ̡͌l̡̡̡̡.̴̡ı̴̡̡__

Gripes about netbooks revolve around low resolution display and crappy video. <$20 upgrade: Acer c-50 AO522 http://www.provantage.com/acer-lu...CEN17W.htm +720p screen +better video +DX11 support +virtualization - green AMD fusion system still have a premium but there is zero reason to purchase crappy ATOM based netbooks besides price. $230 might be a deal. |
