where do you find gamestop trade-in values?

I don't know if I can link it here, but you can search google for gamestop trade-in values database. The site starts with "cheap". It has a database for GameStop and (some) Amazon trade-in values that is maintained by submitters who recently trade in games and then post what they got for them. You won't find all the games you're probably looking for, but the main core of worthwhile popular games are there.

Also note that the trade-in value for a game, say Grand Theft Auto IV, may not always be the same for the PS3 as it is for the X360 (right now for GTA IV, trade-in for PS3 is $7.00, X360 is $8.00). Some are the same trade in value, some are a much wider margin. And game prices can change from what's posted in the database (there was one that I had that said $8.00 trade-in in the db, but it was $7.00 when I was actually at GameStop).

All those titles are worth $3-$6 with the Best Buy trade-in. Not knocking this deal, it obviously works, just a heads up...

Yes. It's really their way of selling subscriptions to Game Informer. At least you get something for the $14.99. It can be deducted from the first trade-ins you turn in. With the 21 games I traded in above, the 10% extra from trade-in values ($16.10) could have paid for itself. And the card can be used for a year to keep saving 10% on pre-owned games and accessories and giving the 10% extra credit towards trade-ins.

It is actually called the PowerUp Rewards Pro card.

I thought in other threads gamestop has put an end to allowing people to trade that many copies of one game (i.e. you said x6 of STFU).

Does anyone know if it is common for gamestop to allow that still?

Thanks for the info. But i am not a fan of gamestop, i generally see almost double the trade-in value on Amazon/Bestbuy compared to gamestop. Even the purchase price is very high at Gamestop compared to others.

Website he was talking about is cheapassgamer.com (CAG). You should be able to find the trade-in values for Amazon, Gamestop and Blockbuster which are updated by people who traded-in those games recently. You might not find the value for all the games, but should be even able to find for a couple of them.

I dont think it is a cash trade-in. I am not sure about other platforms but, SW:FU2 for PS3 is not under this sale. It is $19.99.

I don't know why people are giving this thread a thumbs down. You can basically take your cash and double it in credit at GameStop. I understand this isn't a point-and-click deal online for the lazy. Depending on the distance of your local Blockbuster (if there are any in your area) and your local Gamestop, I'd say there is about 2-3 hours involved to double your money!

And yes I know there are GameStop haters here, but if you don't like the deal, move on. If you take a little time, you can use this deal to get 50% off or more on anything in GameStop! Use it to buy point cards or price-fixed hardware (e.g. all retailers sell the PS3 160GB for $299 or the Wii for $149/$159) that you would pay the same at other stores for, but you would be getting 50% off or more at GameStop. Everyone is saying Best Buy and Amazon are better for trade-in values. So far that's not what I've seen (see what I wrote below). And at Best Buy, you have to pay full retail for their games and hardware and have no option for used deals.

I haven't checked Amazon, but I did a comparison with the 21 games in my OP to Best Buy and just for trade-in value I came up with $117.00 versus GameStop trade-in value of $161.00. That is $44 (or about 28%) less. I also got an extra 10% trade-in value with the PowerUp card of $16.10 and a bonus $70 from the Trade 3/$10 bonus from GameStop which is WHERE THE VALUE IS OF THIS DEAL! Would I rather have $117.00 gift card at Best Buy and barely cover my $113.85 investment, or have a $247 credit at GameStop?

So if I pick the right games from blockbuster B1G1 and spend about $150, I could end up with double my
money or more in store credit and buy a brand new PS3 160GB for $299 by only spending $150 of my own cash at BB. Correct my math if you need to but that's 50% off a brand new PS3.

Or you can use that credit to buy a new or used game and basically be getting 50% off or more (or less) depending on how good the selection you have from BB to GS).

Yes SWFU2 for Wii is $8.00 trade in at GameStop ($6.00 at Best Buy). But I only used SWFU2 for the math example. If all you're doing is looking for SWFU2 at BB then you're missing the point of the deal. If you look, most of my games had about a $7.00-$8.00 trade-in value on games I paid $9.99 B1G1 so essentiall $5.00 each.

They just updated the values yesterday. You need to make a simple spreadsheet of the Wii, PS3, and X360 games (Mine is 5 pages front/back and took me 5 minutes to make, or put it on your smartphone to reference) and take it to Blockbuster and look at ALL the games $14.99 and under. Buy the games in groups of 6, 12, 18, etc to take advantage of both the B1G1 AND the Trade 3/$10 bonus credit. I'm not saying buy 6 of the same game, I just happen to find 3 SWFU2 at one BB and 3 at another and my local GS just happened to take all 6! If you're doing it for just straigh cash trade-in, then you don't get the Trade 3/$10 bonus. THE VALUE OF THIS DEAL IS IN THE TRADE 3/$10 BONUS CREDIT! Add 10% and $3.33 to the trade-in value of each game - Example, for an $8.00 GS trade in value, add $0.80 for 10% extra credit and $3.33 bonus ($10 divided by 3 is $3.33) making that $8.00 trade in now worth $12.13, and you paid $5.00 for it at BB with the B1G1 deal. How is that not awesome to spend $5.00 cash and get $12.13 in GameStop credit! Even if some of the prices are 20% higher at GS on some things, you're getting (on this example) 143% return or $7.13 on your investment of $5.00. Yes the game titles/platforms are different for everyone and goes without saying YMMV.

Again, the deal isn't spending $5 and walking away with $7 or $8 (even though that is cool in itself). The deal is in the Trade 3/$10 Bonus credit where you spend $5 and have $11.03 or $12.13 in store credit. Try walking into Wal-Mart, hand them a new gift card from the shelf and $5.00 and tell them to put $12.13 on the gift card!

For me, I spent $113 cash, got $247 in store credit, and used it on a used Wii ($129) with a 2nd used nunchuck($17.99), 2 classic controllers ($14.99/ea), and a Wii Fit board ($69)! I went across the street to Target and spent $19.99 on FlingSmash (price good thru today, 5/28) to get a 2nd NEW Wiimote Plus.

I would love to jump on this as I have a $50 blockbuster gc to burn for the last 2 years. I won't be home until Monday so that sux as you said deal is over 5/29. Reps for you anyways.
