I think this would be a great outlet to post our concerns, rants, etc.....on our WAGS experiences due to low stock, new ECers, & S&Gers.

For what it's worth I do believe that low stock is more of an issue than S&Gers, but they and new ECers are definitely playing a huge role in the issues that we are all encountering. Frown

Just for the heckuva it, I wandered into Walmart tonight looking for the peelies (didn't find any), I did notice Walmart had tiny little boxes of U liners. They were 18ct (I think) for $1.20. They weren't trial size, and assuming the $2 coupon is good on anything, you could buy those small boxes and not waste 3 hours arguing with pricematching a RR deal.

snip.
I bought some earlier too and...

1) the cashier refused to let me use them because she thought they were trial size...yes they were in a small box but that doesn't make them a trial size...plus it was 18ct. I haven't seen anything trial that goes that high.
2) She refused to ring me up because I was getting them for free. She made the manager do it for her.

So at a conservative 3% interest rate assuming it's tax free like in muni's they are asking you to give up $150,000 in interest for a $49,000 car.

Facepalm

WAIT i forgot the intrest you would get gimmie a sec!

You would loose out on $48,817!!!

EEK! Who's offering 3% interest? I'd take that. The last CD's I bought were at 1.5% and my savings pays .02%. My MM account? Nothing! Goose egg! Zip, nope, nadda!

3% sounds awesome. laugh out loud

You would have to find some good rated municipal bonds!

There are "a lot" of banks that have reward checking accounts that will pay 3 to 4% on up to either 10K or 25K if you jump through a bunch of hoops (the credit union where I was getting 4.5 dropped to 2.5 a while back), but there are also some that give 1% without a lot of hoops (alliant credit union -- if you have an in with them is probably the easiest).

No CD's over here... I prefer to keep my stockpiled cash liquid! Wink I do have several accounts at my credit union, so it's not like it's buried in a coffee can out in the backyard, but it just scares me to tie up those kind of funds. Big Grin

My checking account is at 0.15%, my savings is at 0.40% and my money market is at 0.41%. To get 1% or more on a CD, money would have to be tied up for a minimum of 30 months. The difference in interest to me, just isn't worth it.

I remember when you could get 6% back in 2006 - can't believe how much has changed in such a short time.. while doing taxes .. Now 2% seems like a pipe dream!

Just viewing my 1099-INT form doing taxes made me want to vomit ....

Both my checking accounts pay .09%, seriously why bother?

As a kid my Mother was always transferring CDs from one bank to another for better interest rates and you still got a toaster or blender or something.laugh out loud I don't even bother with CDs anymore.

I still do okay in the stock market, even being the hairy roller coaster it can be sometimes. In the last week, I've sold all but two stocks, I kinda like the May Go Away strategy.

DH's 401K has about the sorriest choices anyone could possibly pick for fund choices, so I keep that account primarily in bond/muni funds, otherwise I don't do anything with munis either.

OMG, the fine print! I thought the Macy's coupons were the king of the 40-line tiny print but a new king has been found!

Interesting offer, and rather slippery wording. The implication is that they will "give" you a car. But no, you will "receive" a car, paid for with the CD's interest, which they pre-pay you up front. So you get a car and they get to use your million for basically free for 5 years. Oh and let us not forget the nice 1099-INT they'll send you at the end of the first year so you can pay about 20K taxes on it. Oh well, I guess if you have a spare million kicking around, who cares about 20K, am I right????
