Thread Details

I think this would be a great outlet to post our concerns, rants, etc.....on our WAGS experiences due to low stock, new ECers, & S&Gers.

For what it's worth I do believe that low stock is more of an issue than S&Gers, but they and new ECers are definitely playing a huge role in the issues that we are all encountering. Frown

Ok, disclaimer --- accounting dept personnel. So this is a finance rant...

I agree RRs are money. But I think the main thing is that you DON'T double count your rewards.
LIFO or FIFO either work but you have to be consistent, see?

In plain English, I see too many posters/bloggers counting BOTH the rewards they earned on a transaction & the rewards (earned on a previous transaction) that they used to pay so that supposedly they paid $0.

If you are listing a series of transactions, then the $$ used to start the series needs to accounted for. And I think the posters who don't count RRs as money are understating their costs. Yes, there are money makers but they tossed real currency at some point in their rolling rewards series of transactions.

Heck, coupons are money IF you are buying them on eBay (or somewhere) or even if you are incrementally paying for newspapers. I even include the occassional postage for trades & raoks as costs.

I get four newspapers every week. I only read two of them. Would I have bought the two newspapers if there aren't any coupons?...Yes So I don't include that cost as "overhead" but the other two papers --- those are couponing costs.

OK, rant over. look around

Just to play devil’s advocate a bit, let me tell you a story that happened to me.

I got the Sonicare that was $99.99 and used the $20.00 Man Q. Then they put the least expensive one on sale for $39.99, which was the one I wanted anyway. So I took the first one back and the manager said he would not refund me the full item price. Because then he would be giving me 20 dollars free. I told him that Wag would get reimbursed for the coupon, so then Wag would be getting $20 free, and he believed this was OK and not the same thing at all. And this is a reasonable manager at one of my Jedi stores.

I wasn’t going to fight this very hard and really didn’t expect to get the Q value back in the first place. But where do we draw the line, or should we?
I tell them that they must give my coupon back if they aren't going to give me my money back. They say they can't (of course) and I say "oh, that's because it's been submitted for reimbursement -- so you're getting the $XX". Since they can't return the coupon I offer to let them put the entire refund on a W card. I've walked out with the entire refund every time.

MFQs are a form of payment -- all forms of payment should be refunded.

IVCs and store coupons are a form of discount, they reduce the cost of the transaction and should not be refunded.

I agree with your thinking, but I think you mean "cash" vs "accrual" method. LIFO or FIFO would have nothing to do with accounting for the analysis of RRs. LIFO and FIFO could be useful however, for re-sellers, if they set up their re-selling business as a taxable company.

Not that complicated -- I meant consistency, pick a method & stick to it.

If you include RRs as a reduction in price of the widget you bought to produce the RR, I think the costs are clearer in deciding whether to go ahead with a deal BUT this assumes you NEVER lose or let a RR expire.

There is likely a state consumer protection law in NM that doesn't allow them to limit quantities to less than that is on hand to sell.

Once in a blue moon when I'm absolutely lost (but I've read the thread from post 1 to the end) I'll ask a question.

I don't understand regular posters that always need a spoon (and never seem to bring anything but questions to the threads). It seems that the helpful folks in the threads should get a cut from her profits in reselling.

Got spoiled in store #1 today. The Breeze2 rang $5.99 and the Gillette disposables rang BOGO free. Had my bubble burst at stores 2 and 3. Breeze2 $19.99 and Gillette disposables BOGO 50%. I know store 1 is in a different district. Wish I could figure out what other local stores are in the same district and test their prices.
AM at store 2 considered a price mod of the Breeze2, but checked the computer and said the Bonus Buy prices won't be effective until midnight.
This was after the SM at store 2 said the new ad prices were active. That corporate is now activating them on Saturday morning as they wanted consistency among the stores. laugh out loud

Wow....were you lucky!!!drool

I haven't heard of something ringing up as BOGO instead of BOGO 50% in quite some time. Brings back memories of a few years ago when this happened a few times. I think one time was on some type of facial cleansers. Those were some good times.....
