I agree. I have no problem with people posting old prices, it's valuable information. As long as they don't get snarky about it.

Seems like an alright deal, I've been looking for a DSLR to replace my crappy point and shoots, just something that isn't horrendous. Anyone have positive opinions about Sony and their alpha series? I know it's relatively new compared to say Nikon or Cannon.

Depends what you consider "new". Sony bought the old Konica/Minolta, and many of their current lenses are just rebranded Minolta's, which are considered very high quality. Minolta actually implemented the first successful use of Auto Focus back in the day. Before Canon or Nikon.

All of the legacy Minolta AF lenses will work with current alpha cameras. And you can even use them with Sony's new NEX line if you buy the adapter.

Tubal is correct about the lenses. I have this exact camera and I love it! It is excellent for the beginner and still has excellent features. I recommend this camera without hesitation. I buy older minolta lenses off ebay or amazon for mine at a fraction of the cost of a new one. Remember that the body has auto focus (or whatever it's called), so your lens doesn't need, which lowers the cost of the lenses.

You mean Image stabilization, not auto focus.
