Doesn't say whether the containers are glass or plastic. If plastic, pass. Don't cook with plastic.....

I guess everyone is picky about plastic these days. Yes, the main health issues I can understand, but "causing obesity"... really? Umm, just eat the food, not the plastic also. SMH. I guess for older people like me, who have been through all kinds of consumer products for the past 50 years, and am still living, we are aware of these warnings but we aren't too over-consumed with them (and yes, there are better "healthier" ones out there but I'm on a fixed budget so I can't afford them). I guess if I read every warning there is, I won't be buying 70% of the products out there; imagine all the lead toys from China your kids put in their mouths, all the pesticides on fruits and vegetables, and all the crap junk processed foods people put in their bodies these days while playing video games and not exercising at all. But hey, that's just my opinion and based on the majority good reviews (many complained just because it's not BPA free), I'm willing to take a risk on this one. If you have the money to buy a "healthier" product, more power to you... this is a great deal within my budget.

why would they heat plastic? i thought everyone knew heating plastic was a dumb idea that causes cancer.. but manufacturers still do it?

Thanks... I couldn't agree more... EVERYTHING causes CANCER, the mercury in the seafood, the fake sugar in diet drinks, the pesticides in the fruits / vegetables, the pollution in the air, the charred thingy on the BBQ meat, the water we drink, maybe the radiation energy our cell phones... I have one of these, and it is awesome. I steam a lot of dishes including dim sum, Chinese steamed breads, veggies, whole fish, etc. Normally I'm against kitchen gadgets but this one is a keeper because I can set it to steam and it'll keep everything warm while I'm away. You can't do that with a conventional stove-top steaming setup.

I'm guessing that everyone here that is scared of BPA hasn't read the original research. Please do so (with a critical eye) before you start worrying.
