Lowes has the Kobalt 1.6 HP 30-Gallon 155 PSI Electric Air Compressor Item #: 221495 | Model #:LLA1683066 on sale this week. I've been eyeing it for awhile and it's usually $429. It's $100 off plus if you go to the post office and pick up a change of address packet they typically have a 10% off coupon. Or if you have military ID you can get 10% off as well. I combined this with my tax credit gift card deal from March. Sale ends 6/20/2011. Here's my order in So Cal:

Subtotal $329.00
MOVERS -$32.90
Pick Up In Store FREE
Tax $25.91
Order Total $322.01

For the non-professional casual homeowner's use this is an awesome air compressor and a smoking deal!

Good deal. I just bought one the same way (before i read this thread). This is WAY better than the Craftsman oil-less ones that are constantly on sale for this price.

This is a VERY good deal for someone who what's the best you can run off a standard outlet. These models can run continuously and take quite a beating. This is a VERY VERY good price.

That seems like a good deal but for $45 more you can get the 60 Gallon compressor. Seems like a better deal if you ever want to run air tools. Only downside is it needs 220

Kobalt 3.7 HP 60-Gallon 155 PSI Electric Air Compressor

Item #: 221565 | Model #:LLA3706056

$379 - 10%

Edit: I just realized this one requires 220v.

Some of the most important information was left out:

6.2 SCFM @ 40 PSI, 5.3 SCFM @ 90 PSI

yet oddly, the useless HP information was included, as if you didn't really care. laugh out loud

I'm debating on this vs the Husky 30 gallon from Home Depot. I think you could even get Lowes to match the Harbor Freight 20% off coupons to make this a pretty slammin deal. I'm close to pulling the trigger...

Meh, the CFM is a little low for me.

They have the 60 gallon 220 volt that has quite a bit more cfm and other ratings for like $60 more. I just don't have access to a 220 volt line because I'm renting right now.

If you don't need to move it and you have access to 220V that's the way to go. If you need only occasional air then an oil free model can probably about match this for less. However, this is basically as good as it gets out of a 110V compressor.

thx for the info on the 60 gallon. was just looking into getting my first compressor after running into a problem with a harmonic bolt while trying to change my sisters timing belt. Looks like 60 gallon would get it off no problem -I've been looking at this 3/4 from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/air-...66984.html - thoughts?) thanks -

You don't need a big compressor to drive an impact wrench. It's a burst of air sort of tool. I used a small 4 gallon 4 CFM @ 90 psi compressor with my impact wrench. It worked just fine. Bigger is almost always nicer to have but don't get a 60 gallon model just to do a timing belt.

Is there any chance someone could PM me a mover's coupon code? This is an online only deal for me locally, and my Lowe's won't match the online price. I have a movers coupon on the way, so I could return the code within five business days, I'm just stuck otherwise. Reps if it isn't a violation of some term of service!
