Easy installation of low voltage lighting
I have a home project installing low V lighting in posts around my deck. Fortunately it's a composite deck and the vertical posts are cored (hollow) which will make wiring easy. There are 16 lights total, wired in parallel to 2 wires (+/-). It would be far easier to just run 2 wires and tap into them at each light, than to run wires between each light and do pigtailing. I'm thinking of using these:http://www.lowes.com/pd_133078-12...facetInfo= The main issue being that they are not waterproof. I don't think that given the voltages involed there will be an arcing issue, but for longevity having water on the conductor isn't good. Can anyone think of an easy way to waterproof these splices? Tape is out - messy, unreliable, etc. Is there some sort of dip or something for cases like this? |

There are gel-filled tap-in weatherproof connectors available. Might check home improvement stores or hardware stores.
They look something like this: http://www.repairconnector.com/pr...of-15.html |
