Today I replaced the seat for a 2nd time & this is the last time the supplier is willing to send me one. Staples will not let me return this chair because they only give you 14 days to return any furniture item according to the girl I spoke with.
Perhaps I'm being unrealistic but to me for $200 a chair should last at least a year if not two or more. Approx 30 days after I bought the chair the seat had gone so flat & hard it was painful to sit in it for more than an hour without having to get up & walk around. After replacing the seat the first time, about 6 weeks later, it was not only flat but lumpy & even more painful to sit in for even up to an hour. I am now sitting on my 3rd seat & I expect it to last no longer than the others.
If you go to staples.com you will see many reviews saying how wonderful this chair is, how comfy if feels. I honestly think these people didn't have it for an entire month before submitting their reviews. If you go to staples.com & type montbrook in the search box it'll bring up the chair itself...go to reviews & then most recent...mine is there under the name Zendall.
I'm not kidding you all...I was having to slowly get myself out of this chair a little at a time just to stand up...it was that bad! We have a simple receptionist chair at work that I have to sit on for 7 hours a day...not once did it hurt my butt like this chair at home has.
Bottom line...a chair that costs $200 should be a lot better than this. It should not make you feel pain that lasts for hours on end later on too. I think what really pisses me off is their unreasonable return policy. I told Staples I didn't want my money back, that I wanted to return it & spend even more money on a different replacement. I'm mad at Staples atm, I will not bother to spend my money there for a long time to come.
What I see for the future is either buying another chair or having one of the seats professionally restored which is what I'll probably do since this is most likely the less expensive solution.
I read all the reviews but they were almost all giddy over this chair...wow, lol. It's not something you want if you really plan to use it for more than an hour or two a day. Trust me, my butt knows!! The real problem IMO is that you only have 14 days to figure it out & if the chair seat (or any other part) goes bad in 30+ you're pretty much screwed.
DO NOT BUY THIS CHAIR....your butt will thank me for warning you!! I have a feeling this applies to any Staples brand chair. I will never buy another of their chairs, that's for sure.
