Steam Summer Sale 2011 is up!! [steampowered.com]

Rule for maximizing your dollar during these deals

Don't buy anything unless it's a STEAM [steampowered.com] front page deal until the last day of the sale. Most games will be discounted but there's a chance that they'll be featured as a daily deal which drops the price further.

Steam Summer Camp Prize Booth [steampowered.com]

On top of offering huge discounts, this is the second summer sale in which Steam has in game achievements tied to digital items as well as entries into a raffle awarding 100 random account holders the top 10 games on their wishlists. So if you haven't updated or created a wishlist, now is the time to do so.

Quote :
Play games to earn special Steam Summer Camp Steam Achievements. Each one earns you a Prize Ticket. Then, redeem your Prize Tickets for all kinds of in-game content (cars, maps, hippos, hats, and more...). Prize tickets must be redeemed during the Steam Summer Camp Sale. You can keep track of all this on your Steam Profile page.
Quote :
100 lucky campers will get the top 10 games on their Steam Wishlist (in a burst of creativity, we decided to call this the “Grand Prize Giveaway”). First, create and organize your Steam Wishlist. For every Prize Ticket you earn, you will be entered into the Grand Prize Giveaway. Your entries are tracked here and on your Steam Profile page. We’ll draw the winners at the conclusion of the Steam Summer Camp Sale.
Steam Summer Sale FAQ- Click for answers to the following questions [steampowered.com]

Question
How do I get prizes?

How and when do I recieve my prizes?

What if I change my mind about the prize I want?

What if I selected a prize for a game I don’t own? Will it work if I buy the game later?

Can I still complete Achievements for previous days and earn Tickets?

How do I qualify for the Grand Prize?

Does using Tickets for prizes mean that I have less entries for the Grand Prize?

What can I do with my Tickets after the Summer Camp Sale is over?

Where can I view the complete rules?

Good Luck and I hope someone on this forum is a grand prize winner.

I'll keep the wiki updated with daily deals.

Steam... killing productivity everywhere.

Have a lot of these but picked up Ghost Master because it looked like fun and got good reviews. Thought I was done but after all the raving about Borderlands I had to go back and pick that up too. Must not read this thread any more...

God damnit. Steam, just take all my money.

Went in for a 4-pack of GotY Borderlands and Lead and Gold. I figured for $6.75 a head, that's a pretty good buy for me and my 3 other friends. I also went in for the 50% off Back to the Future, since I'm a nut for the series.

Tempted to get the Magicka addons. However, 33% off and a non-daily deal aren't really pushing me to hard to pick it up right now. I'll wait and see if it goes cheaper.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you get any XP from killing the waves of enemies in the Mad Moxxi arenas. I think you only get it from finishing the various quests/challenges. At least that's what I remember hearing, maybe I'm wrong.

And I've exploited that glitch in Knoxx's Armory way too many times. Thank goodness Gearbox never fixed it, otherwise I'd have to deal with Crawmerax every time I wanted a shot at Pearlescent weapons.

They should, although you'll probably want to take a look at this [steampowered.com] first.
You might be right.... I was just glad to get it over with. Hmmmm, that does suck a bit if you can't get any experience out of the ordeal.

On second thought... don't go to the underdome in Fast Travel and skip Moxxi altogether.

I've played so much of Oblivion on PS3/Xbox, I don't know if I can play it once again this time for PC. I'm thinking if it's worth it to play Nehrim alone. Does Nehrim work with the Steam version?

Thanks for the link friend on Steam that always plays games but never talks. Stick Out Tongue Lol! I'll probably wait on the game. I tend to be ultra cheap when it comes to video games and their prices nowadays. Too big of a backlog that I never get around to. So now I wait for games to be like $5 or less.
Haha, that's me. Who has time to talk when all these games are just sitting there, waiting to be played? laugh out loud

I've also become quite a big cheapskate when it comes to video games ever since these Steam sales came around. Unless it's a game I really want, I wait for it to drop to 75% off the original price. Hell, I think the only two games I bought on their release dates in the last 2 1/2 years were L4D2 and Portal 2.

Moxxi is the only DLC I don't have and it'll probably stay that way. I don't see any real incentive to buy it. The bank to store your items is nice, but my backpack is large enough as it is and I never find myself running low on space. The other three DLC are all terrific, though. The Borderlands GOTY in general is such a ridiculous value. 90 hours logged and I still play every now and then.

I just wanted to say Lead and Gold is orgasmic especially for $1.50. There is no good excuse not to own it by the end of the day.

Here's another question. Anyone know if Oblivion mods work on Steam?
Yes - they work. Be prepared for some compatibility headaches, bugs and all around pain in the rear end scenarios when modding Oblivion. The community has aged and many of the mods aren't supported anymore but some of them will work. The game itself has a lot of bugs and compatibility problems which can make it seem like a full time job getting it all up and running smoothly but once you do it's a great game. Well, besides the awful/recycled voice acting you have to listen to.

I have a love hate relationship with Oblivion but I put well over 400 hours into it several years ago.

Can any of the more experienced steam users help me out?

Following the guideline, if a game is on sale AND is part of the summer sale (which I guess *only* the games that explicitly say "steam summer sale 2011" are part of??

I should wait to see if it goes down even more?

For example 2 I want are:

- Sword of the Stars Collection (which says that)
- Spellforce 2 gold edition + spellforce platinum (or the "universe" combo) this one *doesn't* say "steam sumer sale 2011" by the price.

So whould I wait for the first but buy the second cause we don't know if that sale will end soon?

Throws me off that Lead Gold and Oblivion ARE part of the sale but don't say the phrase next to the price... :S

It's an enjoyable game as long as you can find enough people online to play with. That's always been its main problem IMO. Even after they have sales and free weekends, it seems like no one comes back to it. And that's a shame considering how fun the game is. The classes, the maps, the modes, the controls, the music... I really like what the game has to offer. Very simple to get into, and I like how the leveling isn't permanent (keeps everything balanced for newcomers and long-time players). My main gripe is the lack of mic support, although some people may actually view that as a positive. But the whole package is strong. For $1.25, I don't see a reason to not give it a shot.

Yeah, you want to wait to see if the games you want show up on the Steam Store home page as Daily Deals (which last for only 24 hours). If they do, then they'll be even cheaper than what they cost now. If they don't show up by July 10th, which is the last day for new daily deals, then you can safely buy whatever you want knowing that it won't be cheaper during the sale.

Everyday during this sale, through July 10th, Steam will move several games to their "Daily Deal" with an even more reduced price. That price will stay valid for only 24 hours. On occasion, the final day of the Daily Deals usually ends up containing a number of games that had already been a hot Daily Deal.

Bottom line, if you see it on a Daily Deal, buy it. You won't find it any cheaper.

If you take a look at this page, http://store.steampowered.com/sal...publishers, it says that games published by JoWood are at 50% off through the end of the sale, July 10th.

You should wait on both items since neither pack is listed on the Steam main page as a daily deal. If they don't go lower you can buy them on the 10th.

Forgot to add my haul:
Already have Borderlands but that's a fantastic price today. In for Lead and Gold though I doubt I have the FPS skillz to get 7 headshots without dying.

Begrudgingly in for DoW2 Retribution at 14.99. It's a daily deal so I figure it won't go lower for a while. Wouldn't be buying this at all if Chaos Rising owners could play with Retribution owners.

im in the same spot as you. my friends and I just bought this game... enjoy it ALOT and are probably going to get that Vietnam expansion... just wondering if they can put this complete pack on sale (>50%) then we'd buy the whole thing

SSIV:AE back to normal price?
I'm pretty sure it was a mistake. I think they meant to take 33% off of vanilla Street Fighter 4. It is now from $30 to $20.

It would be very crappy to discount a game that's still on pre-order when other people have paid $40 and not even gotten the game yet.

And if you're wondering, it's definitely better to pay the extra $$$ for the Arcade Edition. It has tons of more fighters and extra features.

Should I wait a few more days?
I appreciate any advice on this.
Thanks
MNC was a daily deal a couple of weekends ago.

It's fun, IMHO.
