Some other products I'd been looking at are the same price... so it's possible that it's just coincidence.

On the other hand - it's one coupon per order, so unless you're getting something >$170, it makes sense to use the free shipping coupon which takes off $16.99.

Despite being mostly a closeout retailer, we do sell some items straight from the manufacturer and are bound to their pricing restrictions. To stay in their good graces during these special site-wide sales, we unfortunately do have to raise our pre-discount price to compensate. Other sites get around this by putting a bunch of fine print at the bottom that says something to the effect of "excluding certain items from X, Y and Z."

But the vast majority of our inventory stays at the same price before, during and immediately after a percent off sale.
