Best way to backup an external hard drive to another external hard drive + cheap
(X-Platform solutions are preferred)So I have a couple of external hard drives and a laptop. I am thinking of moving my content off my internal hard drive, attaching the external hard drive to a pogoplug and having that not necessary to carry with me content accessible everywhere with an internet connection. What's the best way for me to backup that hard drive to another external hard drive? Then, what's the cheapest way for me to do that? Last edited by bowlerkid; 07-02-2011 at 05:53 PM.. Are you talking about backing up (imaging) the entire the hard drive or just backing up your documents and personal files?

For backing up the entire hard drive: Paragon Back-Up and Recovery 2011 [paragon-software.com] or Clonzilla Live CD [clonezilla.org] (both of which are completely free).
For syncing files between hard drives: SyncToy [microsoft.com] (also completely free). For storing documents and personal files on an external hard drives (no routine syncing): Just format the external hdd as NTFS. Then copy and paste all your files to the external hard drive so only Windows and your applications are on your internal hard drive. |
