Seems like a good deal. I'm always skiddish about Ni-Cd batteries though because of the short lifetime. They claim these batteries are better (capacity and weight-wise) than normal Ni-Cd's, but don't say anything about longevity.

That's my 1st thought when ever some one offers Free Anything For Life. The only guarantee is, they will not lose money on the deal. But even without free batteries it sounds like a good deal. |

Was planning on getting a Ridgid combo due to their lifetime battery warranty, but considering an equivalent Ridgid combo set would be at least 2X the cost of this one, its hard to justify spending that amount. I decided to take the gamble and go with this combo. From the limited info I found, it appears that Rockwell makes a good oscillating tool (http://www.toolsnob.com/archives/...review.php), mentioned on several woodworking specific forums/sites. Hopefully this carries over into their other line of tools. Also, the reviews on Amazon, while sparse, seemed positive. Seems like a great deal to me, in for one set. Thanks OP.

I've always thought that Ni-Cd had longer life span even if they are heavier and don't offer consistant power over the entire charge. I don't want to have to admit I am wrong yet again to friends and other SD'ers sooooo soon. . .

Ni-Cads and short life? I've had a 14.4V Dewalt drill for 15 years and the battery still holds a decent charge. I've since switched the Craftsman's C3 line and they hold great charges too, I'm actually blown away by the C3 line, never been a fan of Craftsman power tools. The uninformed need to do a little research.

Really you don't say! I've shared mine but I guess I wasn't suppose to but mine wasn't an opinion it was a proven factual hands on usage of battery powered tools. I have a total of about 12 Ni-Cad powered tools so I think I know what I'm talking about.

Hey all, I ordered one of these kits a few hours ago. I tried to get it to take any coupon code but in the cart it said this promotion doesn't work with this item. However the july4 (10%) was working on other power tools so in a chat with mygofer I brought it up and they said
customer service - "James G: Okay, for some reason it didn't take the July4 coupon, but it's supposed to be 10% off of tools. I'll issue a credit back of 19.99 back as 10% off of your merchandise." So it is something to try on this combo or another power tool that the code isn't working for??? |
