^^ Staples site shows 7,200 RPM....is it incorrect?
On the Staples site when you click on Specifications below the picture here is what it shows- 5400 RPM
Model WDBAAU0030HBK Form Factor Type Desktop Capacity 3TB Interface USB 2.0 Compatibility PC/MAC Color Black Encryption Type - Cache - RPM 5400
I checked the WD site but could not find an RPM spec for the drive model. However I found this "disclaimer" on the FAQ about the external hard drives from WD. "We can only guarantee drive capacity. We cannot guarantee a particular internal hard drive model, data interface, rotational speed, or cache size in the external hard drive enclosure."
SO I guess YMMV, but opening the drive box voids the warranty...

I would think that this drive is a 7200rpm...I didn't think they even made 5400rpm desktop drives anymore!
where you been the last 3 years?
5400/5900 made a return as they are 'green"
hitachi, wd, seagate and samsung have been heavily pushing cheap lower rpm drives and many of the hdd deals are for 5x00 drives
