Panasonic toughbook CF-W8 Speaker issue

Hey guys, I am not a novice when it comes to solving software hardware issues with computers in general but I have hit a brick wall in this case.

I bought two Panasonic W8 toughbooks from the last time we had that crazy deal on SD.
It came with win xp but as soon as it arrived I installed Windows 7 x64 on it. Everything works great & all the drivers are good except I have this weird problem with the speakers. The speakers don't work after you turn the laptop on. They only work after I close the lid and let it go to sleep mode and wake it up then the speakers work fine. I read somewhere that this is due a glitchy windows update.

I have tried bunch off Sound max drivers and the usual fixes like windows update but no luck.. problem still exists..

Panasonic doesn't officially support windows 7 x64 for this laptop. We had to use some of the CF-F8 drivers. But sound driver is automatically installed by windows 7.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Haven't had any experience with the CF-W8s but it should be similar to the other series. One thing I was advised by another coworker is to go to the Canadian website and download the drivers there since the regular Panasonic website doesn't have the right drivers. Maybe you can give that a try.

One more thing to add is that when installing Windows 7, it will try and use the default drivers from the Windows 7 disc. You have to run the proper driver package then it will use those drivers instead of the default Windows ones.

Thanks for ur input. I tried the .ca website but there were no CFW8 drivers. I tried CFW7 vista drivers and there was a hotkey fix driver for speaker issue I tried those but they wont run so I extracted them and then ran it and it ran fine. Restarted my pc and speakers were on mute but didnt have to put laptop to sleep. Just unmuted and speakers were working fine.

Any reason your running XP x64? It was pretty much rubbish for its entire life. If you need the 64bit, I would encourage you to run either Vista or Win7 x64. With no official support from Panasonic for XPx64 I would say this is your problem because of lack of proper drivers.
