Got this offer in the mail where you can get cable from Time Warner for $14.95 guaranteed price for 1 yr w/o contract when you switch from DSL. I pretend to sign up online and it didn't ask for proof of current or previous DSL user. This offer is probably regional.

Cable is more stable than DSL and often you get faster than advertised speed. This is same price as AT&T Express or Pro DSL. It's a good deal if you don't need their standard 5-6Mb/s at $30

OP, the trade off is that with cable you share the bandwidth, so if there is a bandwidth hog on your node your speed suffers. while there might not be right now, that could change at any time as they move people around from node to node.

You should get this anyway. DSL sucks compared to even the crappiest Cable connection. After I made the switch I couldn't believe how slow my old DSL was in comparison, I switched from Verizon DSL to Charter Cable.

3MB is so slow in today's bandwidth hungry internet...

I mean if you just do email and load web pages your fine...

but downloading or gaming will be unpleasant at this speed.

Cable more stable than DSL? Holy linoleum. Cable was out 6 times last year here. DSL was out 5 times... in the last 15 years. Started out with 256k in 1995, have 7meg now and could get 20meg if needed to. Stability is dependent on wiring quality and saturation in your area. 15 bucks for ANY broadband is a danged slick deal though.

I watch ESPN and Hulu just fine with 3Mpbs DSL.

AFAIK, cable is better due to lower latency delays means faster page loads.

Edit: This offer is not available at your location, however we have these great other offers for you to choose from.

Best is $40/mo Frown

We are happy for all of you happy DSL users who are happy with 3 meg service. Time Warner just upgraded our whole area to Doccis3 and I am happy as a lark with my 10/1 standard service. For several months prime time internet was just plain slow. (they even credited me for 2 months) But now we are fast all of the time. Same speed in the prime time as I get at 4 in the morning.

Thanks OP! I got sick of AT&T's 786 kbps for the same price and decided to switch! This should be so much better!

Good option for people whose promotional $14.95 rate with AT&T for 3 Mbps DSL service is about to expire. After all of AT&T's b.s., trying to get billed at the correct price, I'm happy to dump them.

Thanks for sharing, OP!

slowass 1.5mbit dsl is the fastest ATT offered in my area.
$15 for 3mbit cable = a deal in my area.
ATT uverse and time warner are locked in stiff competition in my area.

from what the time warner customer service rep told me, you can renew your promotional pricing easily if you threaten to cancel.

for those who don't pirate heavily, 3mbit for $15 is perfect.

TW has a spanish tv offer in my area los angeles called El Paquitazo or something like that for $29.99 you get lots of regular ENGLISH HD channels (little sports no FW just ESPN) also get HGTV travel etc. (No news no CNN no BBC).

Now with that you can get 750k internet for $10 or 1.5 for $20 pr $10M for $30 more.

This is all 1yr only
