Wow what a surprise I finally got my 100k points for 6608! Called MR about once a month since getting the card back in late August. Kept getting the runaround with each call, and then finally the "investigation" after being told I wasn't targeted for the offer. However instead of the rejection letter, I end up getting a letter in the mail telling me that my 100k points were credited. Go AMEX!

So I called again and got the runaround about waiting till 10 weeks was up. I was seriously peeved. Then she said they would do an investigation about the issue that would take...wait for it....10 more days. At this point I began telling the rep that there was no excuse is this. I expect this type of behavior from Bank of America, not American Express and that's why I don't do ANY business with BoA. Then she went into this sob story about how their offer codes were leaked on the internet and people in foreign countries were taking advantage of AmEx. GASP! Foreigners! Oh the nerve! :rollseyes: But I got nowhere with her.
I am aware that I wasn't snail mail targeted. But what angers me is the first rep I spoke with back in August told me that he noted my account and all I had to to was meet the spending requirements and I would get the 100k rewards in six weeks. He didn't not say "six weeks, a phone call back, seven weeks, a phone call back, eight weeks, a phone call back, an investigation, two emails and two headaches" which is what it took. I am not sure if they want to see if you're persistent or if you get angry or what but they got both reactions from me. I threatened to close all my accounts including my personal savings. When I heard back from Ajay (the email rep) today he say he was going to post rewards to my account but they were already there. WTH? Yes this is exactly the runaround I got too. Kept being told that I needed to wait progressively longer periods of time - then finally got the "investigation" explanation. I had pretty much written off my chances of getting the points by now. But after the investigation I did get the points. I was not snail mail targeted either. Good luck.

I thought you would be going to Plastic Jungle to sell the giftcards that you bought with your Rewards on the Amex site. What will you do with all those Gap cards? Sell them on eBay?I'd really appreciate some advice on using points. I've never used plastic jungle. I got 75,000 points on my Amex Rewards card. I got the card just to get the points but now not sure what to do with them to maximize their value. I thought of just getting a bunch of $50 or $100 Amex giftcards to use on groceries. I've been out of work for three years this month, so every penny counts. |

If I can't do plastic jungle there are other options. Ebay would be last resort...I'll probably get close to the same price, but more hassle. You can get amex cards, but be aware that they use up more points to buy. All I want is pure cash, and this was better to get cash than getting amex gift cards...actually about 3 times better with the deal I got. |

I misunderstood your previous post. I thought you were saying that plastic jungle had a special 50% off sale on gap cards. But you must mean that you got them for 50% off on the Amex site? And now you are trying to turn them into cash by selling them on Plastic Jungle.
