Attended an Ulta Grand Opening this weekend:

The Gift Certificates were drawn out of a case as the first 100 went through the door.
The store manager told us there were 2 $100, 4 $50, and she couldn't recall the breakdown on how many $25, $10 and $5 there were.

The Gift Certificates were NOT Gift Cards - they were more like a coupon, they each read $X off - so you had to spend more than the amount of the Gift Certificate AND you had to spend it all at once. You could decide to not use it right away as they were good through October 31, 2011. They also were NOT stackable with any other coupons.

The Four Free Gifts are to the first 1000 CUSTOMERS not guests/visitors.
The gift bags were put in your bag with your purchases. The local store we went to still had gift bags to hand out with purchase today.
The 4 gifts we each received were:
an Ulta eyeshadow,
a travel size, fresh lilac scented, Ulta body lotion,
a sample tube of Kinerase Cream,
a sample size of Exuviance Heel Repair.

Has anyone ever been to one of these Grand Openings? I have one opening up near me next Friday? Do people usually line up outside for hours before?

I went to one earlier this year and people were lined up before opening, but not hours before. The second day I managed to get the gift. I'm not sure if it was first 1000, seems like it was less. I think you'd be fine coming 30 min early in my area, but I'm sure it varies by location.

Thanks for the info! I think I'm going to go check it out. Maybe I'll find a friend to come with me so I don't have to be bored by myself.

Also... I love your Hello Kitty icon!

We went Friday and Sunday morning before walking at the local mall.

On Friday, we arrived 15 minutes before the opening @ 9am and were approx number 20 in line. I received a $5 off certificate and was able to get a shampoo I like for free, plus the 4 free items to the first 1000 customers (see wiki for more info.) My son's girlfriend WON 1 of the 2 $100 off certificates given away each day, so we shopped and she spent her certificate on various lovely items, including some gifties for me and some friends.

On Sunday, we arrived 25 minutes before the opening @ 10 am and were the 3rd in line. I received another $5 off certificate and my son's girlfriend received a $10 off certificate. After looking around a bit, I decided to get more shampoo and she decided to spend hers another day. When we left 30 minutes later, they still had more than 75 certificates to hand out.

We didn't opt to have makeovers, etc - as we were heading to exercise.

It was a nice experience and it was not overwhelming either of the 2 days we were in town and able to go. (Saturday may have been more of a zoo; I don't know.)

Thanks for posting, lostit! Thumbup
