Brother Hl 2240 Printer won't turn on, HELP?

An9890 17 10 July 9, 2011 at 11:46 PM
Hi guys.
I bought the Brother HL 2240 laser printer at Staples a bit over a month ago. I barely used it like 3 times max to print. Tried printing again today but the machine simply won't turn on (no lights go on). I tried plugging and unplugging, using different outlets (I'm pretty sure it's not the outlet's fault).

Anyone know how I can fix this? Or if I can return it? Since Staples policy is no return on technology after 14 days! Mad

You can get Brother to fix it. My HL 2170W died by a lightning strike while I was out of town. Called Brother and they said since I was still within my year warranty, they would fix it. They'll send you a refurb and put a $50(I think) hold on your credit card until they get the broken one back. Or they'll have you take it to an authorized repairman. I opted for the repairman.

Depending on the manager at your local Staples, it may be worth trying to exchange it for another one. Staples often will take back recent failed equipment if they have more on the shelves, they can still get credit from the vendor so it doesn't really matter. It depends on the store manager whether they will allow an exchange so this won't always work.
