Cheap phone plan, no texting, unlimited night/weekends
I'm looking for the cheapest phone plan that does not come with any data/texting, but still has unlimited nights and weekends.
The phone does not need to be fancy or anything like that. This is for a 65 year old woman who does not speak/read/write english, which is why texting and data are unnecessary. She just wants to be able to call her friends for free.
Anytime/daytime minutes can be low too...the cheaper the better.
Any ideas? The only thing I can think of is to add her onto someone's family plan, but I can't add her to mine because I've used up all 5 lines with verizon.
I will probably have to open a new account for her, just don't know where is the cheapest.
she will not be using many minutes during the daytime. most likely less than 100 minutes since people might call her or something, but she knows daytime minutes are expensive and will only use the phone at night or on the weekends.
How about minutes in total for the month (including nights and weekends) would you suspect is needed?
If we are talking tons and you cannot add her to some family plan, is it possible for her to use some VOIP provider or something like Verizon Home Phone Connect in addition to a cell phone? Does she have high-speed internet? Naturally, these other options are for inside her home. Other than that, the only thing suitable might be just your cheapest postpaid plan.
Look at Skype for when she's at home. Last time i looked it was 2 cents a minute for calls from the PC to a landline or mobile phone. Then get her a cheapo ex-Verizon phone and activate it on Page Plus. 1200 minutes for $30/month http://www.pagepluscellular.com/P...01200.aspx
Since I am not sure about exactly what she needs, I will just list some options. These are all $30 a month plans:
-Verizon or At&t senior plan - 200 min & 500 min night & weekends
-Sprint basic - 200 min & unlimited night & weekends
-T-mobile prepaid - 1500 anytime min
-Platinumtel prepaid - 300 min & unlimited night and weekends
-Virgin mobile paylo prepaid - 1500 anytime min
-Page Plus - 1200 anytime min
-Straight talk - 1000 anytime min
That why I was thinking maybe she could try voip like Ooma for home use to lessen the need for cell minutes. This of course would mean that most of her calls are from home. If this is the case, she could then maybe use the cell less frequently and use something like Page Plus' $80/2000min card that lasts one year for her cell phone.
Perhaps there is a member of your family who wants to move to another service. That way, you could put her in your family plan instead.
