I knew I should've held off. My sister wanted to grab this last week saying "it's a 2 day sale." I said wait on it.. the prices wouldn't be going anywhere and sure enough, it dropped $20. In any case, I advised her to grab the sandy bridge probook for $449 which just shot back to $479 over at the tiger.
For general use 3Gb will do. Serious gamers would like as much ram as possible though.
4gb should be enough for most gamers. If you're into mem intensive processes like video editing or like to multitask with lots of software, only then would going for more ram be necessary. For gamers it is a better investment to get a better GFX card rather than more ram
Wan't even aware of this deal, just needed a laptop to use while I am doing contract work. Went into Best Buy today and they had quite of these stocked. Looked like a fair deal so I bought it and it should be a good laptop for out of town.
Just for reference of quality :
We have had the Gateway NV15 (i5 /Bluray $500) from years past deals and it works pretty well. no issues . ( did not like the buttons for mouse but that is a personal preference.
