Citi Thankyou Points Transferability
Sorry if this is not news to you, but it was to me and I made prompt use of it!
Citi now allows you to transfer Thankyou points between member accounts. You can gift your points to others, and it seems the only drawback is that the recipient has to use the points within 90 days (or else they expire).
This is useful because Citi offers different gift card redemption options to different accounts. For example, my mom's account does not offer the ability to purchase $100 Walmart gift cards, whereas mine does (for 10,000 points). She only had the $25 option at a terrible conversion ratio through her Thankyou account, so I had her transfer the points to me so that I could submit the order for her, for the $100 gift cards instead.
Here's a copy and paste:
Share your Citi® ThankYou Points with your friends and family! Now you can combine your ThankYou Points to redeem them for something you want even faster. Or you can transfer your ThankYou Points as a gift to another member. All with ThankYou Transfer Points.*
Start sharing your ThankYou Points today. All you need to begin is:
The recipient's full name
The recipient's ThankYou Member Account Number or corresponding Credit Card or Checking Account Number*
The number of points you want to transfer**
You will also need to agree to the terms and conditions.
*Citi® ThankYou Points can only be transferred to another ThankYou Member Account.
**Once points are transferred, recipients will have 90 days to redeem them before they expire.
