oh, forgot to mention that you most have a 64-bit OS to see all of the 3TB. a 32-bit OS will only see about 2.2TB.

everyone keeps saying to get the externals, removing drive from case means you have no warranty...7200RPM isn't a big deal if you are just using it as a data drive (which you should be...3tb OS drive??? lul) There are other advantages of 5400RPM...less noise, less heat, less energy, possibly less of a chance for failure.

Agree, my data storage is doing ok on 2TB right now (raid1)... but one day that 60% will be more like 85%... Hopefully I can hold off another 6months to a year before I need to upgrade and migrated all that data.

Are there any issues using these with a NAS? Will any NAS be able to access all 3TB or does the NAS need to meet certain requirements? And will any OS then be able to see everything on the NAS even if it's not 64 bit?

makes sense, this thing is $150+ everywhere else. cheapest you can do atm is $140 bare drive without the kit.

"LUL" no one said anything about a 3TB OS drive. you totally misunderstand. with a 32-bit OS, if you plug the drive into the MB SATA it will only show up as a 2.2TB HDD. "LUL"

i want to say with a NAS you should be okay, as it is not controlled by a 32-bit OS. though check with the NAS mfr just to be sure.

I'm not even used to 1TB drives yet...
