How to install OSX on Acer Aspire One AO722. Cool
I assume no responsibility or warranty for the posted instructions.
You need to download Nawcom's Boot cd image located here [nawcom.com] and put it on a usb flash drive using Flashboot (free trial) here [prime-expert.com]. Then you need retail Snow Leopard either on external DVD drive or mounted on Transmac (free trial) here [acutesystems.com]on a 8gb flash drive. After that that boot from flashboot drive and proceed to press arrow keys until OSX is selected, then type "busratio=8" without parenthesis. to be continued...

A list of what's not working:
Graphics card not enabled (wrong resolution, no QE/CI)
Stock Wifi doesn't work, but can be replaced with another working card for pretty cheap.
SleepEnabler.kext not working (freezes)

The Dell 1510 half-height mini-PCI wireless card (around $15 on eBay) works in Win 32, 64, and OSX iPortable 10.6.7. The card that comes with the A0722 only does 2.4GHz, the Dell card does 5GHz and 2.4GHz N. Instructions for installing in OSX are here, along with the kexts needed - http://www.kexts.com/downloads.ph...ile&id=972

Audio driver is here - http://www.kexts.com/downloads.ph...ile&id=156

Thanks for showing interest. Smilie But keep in mind this isn't for the faint at heart because there are a lot of steps and instructions to follow.

Looking forward to learning how to hackintosh the AO722. Would you be able to dual boot windows and OS X? If so, would you mind putting those instructions here as well. I know I can just google it, but it would be nice if it was all here in one place.

Thanks in advance.

Yes you would be able install to dual boot with windows by using Nawcom's bootcd (flashed on a usb). You can also install on external hard drive (unlike windows). Wink
The reason I haven't posted a tutorial yet is because its not easy to make it noob friendly.

Well, its fairly simple once you understand the basics. The worst you might do is mess up your bios or hdd which you can just wipe and reset. BTW I am pretty sure you are not allowed to post how to do this on here.

Google does not offer any supporting information on this unit being Hackintoshable. Neither do the HCL sites.

would you mind posting the caveats? If its a 100% port ie all the major stuff working then im on it no matter how many steps, but i always seem to have the computer/laptop that has one or 2 major components that just wont work as a hackintosh. Like my old netbook the wifi wouldnt work in OSX , so though everything else worked well it jus wasnt feasable to me. Im hoping this ones a winner!

And adding a pre thnx to aaron for the guide

I tried this briefly last night...used a patched Snow leopard with nawcom usb pkg, got to the chameleon screen...tried to boot with "busratio=8"... no luck.

Can you guide me to what am i forgetting? I didnt change any bios settings...

Also, once you get it running, does sleep, wifi, ethernet, audio work?

Thanks for the help!
