feel free to submit a BBB complaint [bbb.org] against HP, I already did mine. in the past, submitting a complaint has ALWAYS expedited the process and prompted a response from senior management.

Here is what I wrote if you just want to copy and paste.

Complaint description:
I was told over and over again that I would receive it in the "next few weeks" when I call in. I have been calling since September 2011. Today on DATE, I called at 9AM and spoke to a supervisor. She said that rebates would not be processed until 11/30/2011 (this is more than 4 months after I submitted, even though rebate form says 8-10 weeks). When I asked why, she said at first they had technical issues and now they have received more rebates than expected so they will need more time to process it. I do not find any reason why the customer is responsible for the vendor's computer bugs or shortsighted staffing. While these things do happen in life, I do not find it fair to place the burden on the customer. My rebate information is as followed. INSERT YOUR REBATE TRACKING INFO.

Complaint summary:
I submitted the "Back to school" printer rebate 7/21/2011 with a promised refund time period of 8-10 weeks. It has been nearly 4 months.

Resolution sought:
I would like to receive the entirety of my rebate immediately. I am not responsible for HP's technical issues or for HP receiving more rebates than expected.

hp may not require the receipt as the rebate + survival kit form is online, and asks for serial no. So it may be ok even if it rings for < 199
if you are really worried, you could buy FAR mcafee stuff
--> on the facebook offer site it is selling the same printer for 149.99, with a link to purchase. Also in the terms this printer is specifically listed as eligible
note: they are selling the PLUS model for 150, the PREMIUM is 199, same prices as Staples.

Replacement ink:

I hope it's okay to post eBay links on here. As a disclaimer, I am in no way associated with this seller, but I know I checked on cost of replacement ink before buying and hopefully this helps someone:

Generic XL size ink [ebay.com] that has over double the capacity of the starter inks included and ends up being roughly $3.16 or so a cartridge for each refill or $16.60 for every full 5 refills you do.


CISS for this printer that will save you hundreds on ink:

For those that want to save hundreds of dollars on ink, a CISS is the smartest thing you can buy for a printer. I have an older HP printer with a CISS and it has worked great for years, thousands of pages later and still rolling fine. I only had to buy CISS refill ink once.

Both sellers are the same, the 2nd link is from ebay seller "devinshredder" I emailed him and asked for a better price on the CISS he was selling one ebay and he told me to go to his website linked above in the 1st link, he sells the same CISS in his ebay store for $80 but if you go directly to his website it's only $60 with free shipping.

Also for whatever reason, he sells the CISS refill ink for $25 through his website but only for $20 through his ebay store. So buy the CISS system for $60 through his website then buy the extra ink for $20 through his ebay store.

With as much ink as you'd get, it will last for thousands of pages.

How come the purchase i made is not showing up in my staples reward center account?

Purchases take up to 72 hours to display after they're made. Store purchases are applied using the purchase date while online, phone and catalog purchases are applied to your account using the date they're delivered. As an example, if a store purchase was made on 8/16, it will be viewable online by 8/19 under the purchase date of 8/16. If an online purchase was made on 8/16, but was delivered on 8/18, it will be viewable online by 8/21 under the date of 8/18.
