Deal Details

Saw this instore today at Costco plus you can buy online:

http://www.costco.com/Service/Fea...o=11669842

TV under $500 = $29.99
TV $500-$1000 = $59.99
TV over $1000 = $99.99

Great deal if you buy a TV over $1000 as its only $99 for 3 years on top of your 1 year manufacturers warranty. TV does not have to bought from Costco but if its a tv bought at Costco you get 5yrs total: manufacturers 1yr, Costco one year, and 3yrs Squaretrade.

I bought a tv from Amazon and have been looking for an extended warranty, Amazon's 3yr Squaretrade for a tv ($2000-2500) is $189.99

I do not why there is so much confusion about the ST coverage. From OP's link when you go to Costco website on the page it clearly mentions "SquareTrade can also be bought to protect TVs bought outside of Costco, where 3 year added protection begins at end of manufacturer's warranty.*Excludes limited life consumables such as batteries and lamps"

p lz scroll down the page following OP's link and it will clear all doubts.

HTH.

Note: Does not work on Amazon Warehouse Deals or Open Box deals. There is a separate warranty for that

Normally Square Trade warranties (brought from S.T.) for TV's can be purchased up to 90 days after you bought it.
Is that the same for these or can you buy later? No, it Says w/i 60 days of TV purchase.

Are there other warranties out there? If you bought it with a CC (Most Visa, and AMEX) or a select few MC's offer Warranty doubling of the manufacturers --> (up to 1 year maximum).

For guys, if your other half are not that big of buying new TV, it may be better to not get all those extra warranty.
When the TV has problem after 2-3 years, it is easier to convince your wife/gf to buy a newer/bigger TV if there is no extra warranty to repair your old one. Smilie

Heh, but I don't really think of a TV as a computer, something that I'd like to replace every 3 years or so, since by Murphy's Law it looks like TV advancements have slowed considerably when LCD came out. When they make holograms, I will reconsider. Wink

If you have an extended warranty and the tv is broke so bad it's not repairable, it'll be much easier to consider the WAF to go with a nice new tv when you already have the money paid out by your warranty rather than having to shell out of pocket for the whole cost. This is probably close to the worst possible reason not to get an extended warranty.

This must be a Costco unique deal with Squaretrade, since normally Squaretrade takes into account the manufactures warranty which I always thought didn't make it such an attractive buy. Good deal on this since they are not factoring in the manufactures warranty.

Generally, extended warranties are a BAD deal. This just makes it a better bad deal.
