My gut feeling is that it'd take years to pay this thing off in saved electricity. Anyone with a Kill-A-Watt know how much charging a fully charged phone costs per hour in electricity?

That's true, a powered USB hub. It's just so difficult to find out online how much each port's output power is. It seems the standard is 500mA per USB port, I would love to find a charging station or powered hub that can supply 1A per USB port, but I think that's just because of limitations.

It works great, and will charge up to 2 amps total. (4 devices at 500mA, 2 devices at 1A, etc...) An added benefit is it will work in other countries with other outlets as well.

In addition, keeping a battery charging for excessive amounts of time will kill the battery faster. This will let you plug it in before you go to sleep and not worry about over charging it for when you wake up.

I've looked for something like this for ages. Couldn't find it, either. Was trying to build charging stations for phones, and ended up having to put in a power strip with a bunch of individual USB chargers. Very ugly and seemed very unnecessary. If you end up building these, I'll buy them.
