$44 on Amazon through Circuit City [amazon.com] as the seller, and you should be able to avoid tax in most areas.
Also, every Creative product I've owned has been poor quality from the start, or broken soon after purchase. This may only be my experience, but I'm just giving a word of warning. |

I have the Creative Fatal1ty Professional Series MKII Gaming Headset and it has been replaced 2 times already under warranty. When it works, it's great. However, after moderate use one side of the headset went out completely. |

Was about to jump on these but it seems a lot of online retailers have these for $45ish anyway. Kinda sucked the deal out of it.

I've been in the market for a relatively inexpensive ($50 or less) headset, and have been looking at the low end Fatality models in addition to a few from Plantronics. Any other brands/models at this price point that I should check out? I'll primarily be using the headset for music and games, and I've read that this particular headset is a bit bass-heavy for music.

This headset is heavy on bass until you turn the bass down in the settings. Yes, I was a bit surprised at first when it started pounding in my ears, but that setting is set up high by default for some reason. Once you lower it, I get very good quality sound and the mic is very good. The headset is comfortable, does not press against my head too much and feels great to play in. I bought it a little while ago for about this price on sale, and I've been happy with it. No issues here.
