state of the industry (especially Nintendo)
http://blogs.forbes.com/wallacefo...r=yahootix
This morning I read the article above, and since I've been thinking about diversifying my Roth IRA anyway, I started to consider Nintendo as a possibility.
Basically, it seems to all come down to whether you think that the day of stand alone consoles and portable game devices is over, soon to be eclipsed by the age of Tablet PC's, online Facebook games, and the like.
I'm having a tough time evaluating this. I've owned about 95% of the game systems that were released from the late 70's through the late 90's. The list includes everything from a TI 99/4a home computer to Atari systems, Atari Jaguar, Colecovision, Sega Master System, NEC Turbo Duo, Genesis III, 3DO, etc. I've also had a NES 101, SNES, & Gamecube. I've usually only owned 1 or 2 at a time, played a couple dozen of the better games, then traded for another system. Currently we just have a GameCube, which is up in the attic, but I have been tempted to hook something up now that we have 3 kids.
Anyway, in general I would like your thoughts on whether you feel that console systems and stand alone portable gaming consoles have a competitive future. If you have specific thoughts regarding Nintendo over the next couple of years, I would appreciate those as well.
Thanks!
