How about caps filters and transistors on the board? I'm thinking of getting this over the 6120 since I hear good success of this in the Bay Area with Comcast
When the 6121 first came out, the motherboards were identical to the 6120.
Perhaps they made changes later. You should have the same success with the 6120 or 6121. It is the ISP CMTS equipment that has caused these models to not always play nicely. The Motorola's have some quirks that cause dropouts with older or non Motorola ISP backbone equipment.
Honestly, the best Docsis 3 modems I have installed have been the Cisco DPC3000 and 3010s. They aren't retail and can be hard to get but they are rock solid.
Best Buy's normal price is also $99.99. I was in Best Buy today and saw them in stock (SB6121 on the box). The model number Best Buy lists is some odd number but the box (and the model on the modem in the picture) is the SB6121.
