Exchange out of office for only one alias

Hi All,

So I have an issue at work and even though I'm in the IT Department, I'm stuck on something I've been asked to do. Basically I have 2 email aliases in exchange that go to me. We can call them hav1@mail and hav2@mail. Both go to "havaack". I think these are called "aliases". No matter which you send to, they all come to my mail box.

Anyway, I was asked to set up an out of office for hav2 so that it will only reply to emails sent to hav2 and not hav1. Is this possible? If so, it is possible on the client side or will I need to get with the infrastructure team to have it done on the sever side?

Any help is greatly appreciated, my google-fu is absolutely no match for this.

Thanks

You will not be able to do this with an alias, however if you remove the alias and set up hav2 as a real email box that has a rule to forward everything to havaack. You can then put the vacation message onto hav2. When you no longer need the message, remove the user and restore the alias.

You can do a client side rule for this in Outlook - just set a rule that checks the incoming address, and auto-reply only to those sent to hav2.

Thanks I can't set up hav2 as a mailbox as it was a mailbox that was closed

Thanks that's what I did. Not the greatest solution, but it gets the job done
