Well you really cant compare an Android OS created for phones that these cheap tablets push onto lousy screens, and Honeycomb 3.1 that was created for tablets, on a fast device with a great processor and it comes with SD card slot, HDMI port and usb port.

Well, this sucks...I bought on Monday with their previous deal. They won't match this price, and if I refuse delivery on the unit on its way, they're going to charge me for return shipping + 15% restocking fee.

REALLY crappy customer service.

Voting thumbs down on the deal because of the semi-reputable site.

Meh, I have one and printed up the UPS return label... it is going back this week..

Thrive is currently plagued by a "Sleep of Death" (SOD) issue.. will go to sleep and will not awake unless a forced reboot occurs. There are some work around things that are hit or miss and drain the battery faster..

Not only that, but I am simply disappointed in the device... clearly not polished or quality tested.. aside from the SOD issue, I've had to factory reset mine once due to an endless boot loop, the support forum has users that report battery issues, random self turn on's when the device is clearly shut off, etc

Toshiba was rumored to have a fix for the SOD issue this week, but crickets on their support forum.

You know what? If this was a common practice, I'd live with it. Or if I'd had it a day or two already. But I don't even have the thing yet. Virtually every other retailer that I've dealt with (online or not) will give you the price difference if the price drops before you take delivery. They're telling me not only "no," but "no, and we'll punish you if you try to get the lower price."

Not a good way to get repeat business.

the benefit of refusing the package, for the company, is that the item comes back untouched and can be restocked and sold as new. if you wre to open the package and request and RMA it would be diff, they'd have to inspect it, open it, make sure everything was in there. most companies pass this on to the buyer by charging a restocking fee.

it's cheaper for you not to touch the box for the company. it's win win for the company to do the price adjustment.

amazon wouldln't charge you for it b/c they know how to look at the big picture. small time jobs don't understand anything but what's then and there.

i wouldn't buy anything from digitaletc either, shady business practices.

This tablet gets terrible reviews. There is no reason not to get an Asus Transformer instead.

Crap, just ordered one at work for POC I figure with the Toshiba name, reasonable price, and full USB host port, this would be a good tablet for our team out in the field to update work orders via web and use the camera to capture barcodes into the system

Do you guys think we should cancel it and try something else? I heard Asus Transformers have build quality issues as well...

I've had mine for three weeks now and I've only seen the sleep issue once. I haven't seen any of the other issues you've described either and I use my tablet intermittently throughout the day. As far as not being polished or quality tested, I can say it's a far cry better than the Acer tablet I returned prior to getting the Thrive. My only complaint about the Thrive - and it is a minor one - is that it's a little thick, especially with the portfolio case on. It's nothing I can't live with though, especially since it's got a user replacable battery. So far I haven't felt the need to buy a spare though, I get about three solid days out of a single charge with what I'd call moderate to heavy usage.

This is an excellent price on a great tablet. But if the Thrive isn't for you, there are plenty of other tablets out there at a similar price point.
