Wal-Mart is going to drop the Nintendo 3DS 's price to $170 early on August 9--giving you 20 free games, Ambassador status, AND discounted price. B&M only

"In order to qualify for the free games, you need to connect to the eShop by the end of August 11 to become a 3DS Ambassador."
That gives you less than 72 hours from the time this deal theoretically goes live to get in on the free games by this:
"Assuming you pick one up in time, you'd have the chance to upgrade to the latest firmware and connect to the eShop, qualifying you for the free NES and GBA games. "
Accessing the eShop (process should take about 30 mins):
1) Turn on 3DS and go through initial setup (entering time, date, etc)
2) Set up wifi connection to home network
3) Go to settings menu (wrench on 3ds home menu) and go to system update -- it's on the last page
4) Download of system update will take about 10 minutes
5) Click the eShop logo on the home menu (looks like a shopping bag)
The system update also gives you internet access (globe in the top right corner of the home menu)
6) once done, you should have a message in the news section of the eshop confirming your induction in the ambassador program. (may need to sign off or wait a bit before message appears)

Go to sears, price match it that way. Have them call the store(walmart) and confirm. 249.99-169.99=80 dollar difference. 10% of the difference is 8 more dollars. Making it 161.99 + tax + free games! As always YMMV.

I'm hoping Wal-Mart releases some information about this soon. I'm also wondering if this is legit, if it'll go live at midnight.

And if well-made, fun games are for little kids, then I'll gladly play little kids games. That being said, I'm not sold on WiiU yet. Funny, I still love Sega too

Question?
I picked up a dslite for my almost 5 year old and 3 ds games. If i return - unopened - and get in on this deal, will the ds games i bought work?Also - is it worth upgrading to this for my son - or just stick with the lite? Thanks! |

Nintendo tried to release too much BS ahead of the 3DS like the DSi and the DSiXL, they should have been building excitement for this from the get-go.

Now - thats alot of games they are including...is it worth Getting my $89 back and buying this at $170?? He is young so mario kart and the others will be perfect for him! Also - are they stored on a memory card or something? or do you need to be near wifi to access this? Whats the deal there? Keep in mind i dont think the 3d is really what i am going for here...more the selection of games they are including as downloads (assuming it works?) - Thanks.... The 20 free games must be downloaded over WiFi - you can do this from your home or anywhere you can get on WiFi with the 3DS. They will be downloaded to the included SD memory card. After you have downloaded them you can play them whenever! |

If you like it, and walmart does in fact go through with the early drop tomorrow, then MAKE SURE you get the new machine open, online, and signed up by Thursday, otherwise you are not going to get ANY free games. I am still skeptical that this will even happen at walmart before Friday, the drop is happening permanently everywhere on Friday, but Thursday at midnight EST, the free games go away. I am still on the fence as to whether I would grab one if the drop happens early. If I cannot secure one in hand before Thursday Midnight EST, then I am definitely not getting one any time soon, but I just might snag one if walmart does in fact start physically selling them tomorrow at the $170 price point. |
