its not 'on sale', its slightly discounted and still marked up hugely from parts cost.

the did make the mold a decade or so ago and so after some time, its mostly profit.

is IS one of the best sounding phones you can get at any price. to do better you have to spend $1k or so.

but $300 is a lot for a model that should have gone DOWN in price. its all synthetic; its not based on cost at all, not at this point in its lifetime.

I still use my hd580 which is model is based on. and when parts wear out, you replace them (call up, describe it, pay over the phone and they ship you new items). headbands crack (paint) and cushions flatten. every few years they need refreshing. but at least you CAN do it yourself. that's a huge advantage of the 580/600/650 line.
