Creative solution to create a digital pass-through cable box
So I just got a TV that features USB time-shift. With a USB drive in the port on the TV, I can pause and rewind up to 30mins of live TV. Unfortunately what they don't advertise is that this only works with digital QAM/ATSC channels...which I don't watch all that often.I do have a spare digital cable box from Time Warner. Unfortunately it only outputs on analog channels (ch 3 or ch 4). I'm looking for some way to have the digital cable box output to a digital channel (like 2-1 or 3-1) so that I can pause/rewind it. Are there any devices that can help me do that? I've talked to Time Warner and they don't have any cable boxes that output to a digital channel. I'm thinkin...is there a device that would accept the cable box output on analog channel 3 and then output that to my TV on a digital channel? All connections made through coaxial cable. |

FWIW, the purpose of a digital cable box is to convert a digital signal (which can't be interpreted by all TVs) to an analog signal (which can). Ergo, they won't put out a digital signal. I
