Black Friday and end of year sales seems like a good time for a similar dual graphics laptop to come around again maybe by Toshiba, Asus or HP....but who knows, maybe HP will give similar deals since they are going under anyways. But they'll probably be a little more like +$50-100, since the last HP deal was supposedly a coupon mistake.... |

Can we say macboylover? Once again...my HP laptop has lasted 4 years and still running flawlessly..no problems whatsoever..so I ask you all..have you ever owned an HP? and if you did you must not be computer savvy to run it into the ground so quickly. Give me any brand of laptop and I can make it only last 1-2 years if I treat it the way most of you people treat their laptops. Still..I got the better deal...any way you want to look at it. Deal with it. |

no need for the e-penis competition.
90% of laptops don't die these days. If they fail, it's usually due to neglect...... like not cleaning out the damn fan heatsink. That's why 99% of laptops overheat. so much hair, cig ash, dust, and other shit in there. at $475, the hp was a slightly tiny bit better deal because it had bluray and the 6750m graphics, and slightly better materials. Extra ram is a non-issue because ram is dirt cheap. 2gb of ram is only $4 right now. I can have 6gb ram today for just $4 more. at $427, the asus is still a good deal. I'm only missing a bluray player, which i have no use for anyway, as i get my HD porn in another format. and as the prices drop, i can get a bluray player at a later time for cheap. laptop dvd burners are only $30 now. It will only be a matter of time before a slim external bluray/dvd burner comes along for cheap after rebate, which you can disassemble and pop into this laptop. Since the consumer reports don't seem to be empirical enough, here's two cents more. In my personal experience of running a repair business, I saw far more HPs and Sonys than any other brands (though those two about equally) with failures that were more than a simple fix. The most common repair by far was failure of the power relay to the board, followed by screen issues of some kind.
Both of these as mentioned above have to do with how well you treat your lappy. Power supply problems (although due to shoddy solders) result from yanking the charger in and out. Screen problems usually involve dropping or stepping on it. So obviously the two most common problems could be avoided by proper care. Personally, as a guy who sees a few hundred computers in a year and tears them apart to inspect the quality of their innards, I only use Asus laptops. I don't know if that makes it any more real than a consumer survey, just IMO. I took in my G50VT on trade and kept it. I have since bought two others (a G73 and this K53) that I'm very pleased with. |
