If you got in on one of these Asus deals you were really lucky. Limited release computers this good are really something you can brag about having. There will always be overpriced, inferior quality HPs around either retail or on ebay/craigslist. You'll be hard pressed to find a K53 even a month from now.

They're both good deals & winners worth having today, since this ASUS is now also hard to find.
But by next year both of our deals will hardly be remembered, and you'll be trading up for an i7 with 6770 for around $550 on another price error or something like that.....

There's a new BIOS version 207 on the Asus website. Has anyone tried this version? All it says under description is "Firmware change", so not really sure what fixes/enhancements are included.

It's been out quite a while now.. and many people is using it.. not much difference between 206 and 207.

There are dates next to the updates on the Asus webpage.......

Hey guys. I got the ASUS right when the deal came out and I've been happy with it ever since. However, as of two days ago my headphone jack is acting up. It plays sound only out of the right, and sporadically the left channel will come on every few hours, but it will be pretty quiet. Very rarely, the left channel will kick in at full volume. It's not the headphones themselves, I've check multiple times on other mp3 players.

Can anyone help me with this?

For any SDers in the Houston area...I just left the Gulfgate Best Buy location, and they have this laptop on sale for $404.99. Three in stock BNIB plus the display. I asked why their price was different from everyone else's, and they said it was due to market reaction, and that other locations won't pricematch a "market reaction" price. Just giving y'all a heads up!

repped for the effort. i tried price matching to the 426 price in Houston but they found out it was "clearance reduction" so it couldn't be done. but 405 is super slick for this deal! if only they still had stock in Austin, i could do a return and rebuy

try to uninstall and delete the audio driver.
let it run windows 7's default driver.

Quoted for credibility of this laptops quality. Just like my HP is getting criticized for its quality..look, there's already complaints.

Just makes me look way better and puts my mind at ease knowing I got the better of the two.
